Straightening apparatus includes opposed straightening rollers through which generally cylindrical elongated workpieces pass generally longitudinally. Opposite flat guide members extend between the rollers and have opposed front guide edges between which a workpiece is guided as it travels through the rollers. The side edges of the guide members extending generally perpendicular to the direction of workpiece travel are individually releasably clamped by clamping devices for providing adjustment of the guide members toward and away from a workpiece to facilitate initial adjustment and to renew the front guide edges as they become worn. Each individual clamping device is also independently adjustable in a direction generally perpendicular to the first adjustment direction for imparting curvature to the guide members extending between curved straightening rollers.

Workpiece guides for straightening apparatus

Apparatus for internally peeling metal tubes includes a peeling head rotatable about a longitudinal axis. An elongated cutter holder having opposite end portions is mounted on the head and extends generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the head. One end portion of the cutter holder is mounted to the head by a pivot connection for providing swinging movement of the holder toward and away from the longitudinal axis of the head. Both of the end portions of the cutter holder are also adjustable outwardly and inwardly relative to the longitudinal axis of the head.

Apparatus for internally peeling metal tubes

Elongated cylindrical workpieces are transported by gripping same between a driven belt and a supporting surface. The belt imparts rotation to the workpieces for rolling same along the supporting surface.

Apparatus for transporting elongated cylindrical workpieces

Elongated pipes are internally peeled by positioning a machining head within the pipe while providing relative rotational and longitudinal movement between the pipe and machining head. An external clamping force is applied to the pipe generally radially of its longitudinal axis and in substantial alignment with the machining head for minimizing vibration of the pipe during the machining operation.

Apparatus and method for internally peeling pipes

A feed channel for elongated workpieces including a plurality of adjustable workpiece receiving openings. Each opening is formed by a plurality of profiled segments including a fixed segment and at least one movable segment. The movable segments are movable to expose the openings for lateral introduction thereinto of an elongated workpiece. The movable segments are then moved to reduce the size of the openings and engage the workpiece for at least partially straightening same. The movable segments are then moved to increase the size of the openings for providing longitudinal and rotational movement of the workpiece relative to the openings. Workpieces are smoothly carried into the feed channel instead of being rolled or dropped thereinto. The fixed segments are positioned and profiled for locating the longitudinal axes of various diameter workpieces in the same plane.

A feed channel for elongated workpieces includes a plurality of adjustable workpiece receiving openings. Each opening is formed by a plurality of profiled segments including at least one movable segment. The movable segments are movable to expose the openings for lateral introduction thereinto of an elongated workpiece. The movable segments are then moved to reduce the size of the openings and engage the workpiece for at least partially straightening same. The movable segments are then moved to increase the size of the openings for providing longitudinal and rotational movement of the workpiece relative to the openings.
