A protective lining which includes a self-curing potting sealant compound. The lining can be used for an aircraft part, such as a tank wall liner which can be manufactured in-situ by casting the sealant into a prepared mold that is formed at least at the bottom side by the part to be protected by the tank wall liner. Specifically, for fuel tanks, the bottom portion forms the bottom side of the mold, whereas the ribs and stringers form a circumferential wall of the mold that prevents flowing of the potting sealant compound into neighboring molds.

Described herein is a method for filling seal caps and a corresponding automated device for filling seal caps. The method for filling seal caps includes carrying out the filling of the seal caps using an automated process, where positioning a filling unit and/or positioning the seal caps by means of movement in an XYZ coordinate system as well as filling the seal caps is automated, and where the seal caps are positioned on a support plate.

Device and method for filling seal caps

Provided herein are sealing compound-filled plastic caps for sealing of connecting elements in aircraft construction against liquids, wherein these plastic caps function as combined protection against fuel and hydraulic oil, especially that based on tributyl phosphate, and against lightning strikes, and can be produced and applied in an economically viable manner. The plastic cap for sealing of connecting elements in aircraft construction consists predominantly of at least one high-performance polymer having a breakdown resistance of at least 10 kV/mm to DIN IEC 60243, and has been filled with a sealing compound having a high energy absorption capacity and including at least one filler selected from the group consisting of gas- and/or air-filled hollow packings, where the plastic cap and the sealing compound are cohesively bonded to one another. Additionally provided is a method of filling and application of such plastic caps, and a corresponding aircraft.

Described herein is a method for filling seal caps and a corresponding automated device for filling seal caps. The method for filling seal caps includes carrying out the filling of the seal caps using an automated process, wherein positioning a filling unit and/or positioning the seal caps by means of movement in an XYZ coordinate system as well as filling the seal caps is automated, and wherein the seal caps are positioned on a support plate.

Method and device for filling seal caps

Described herein is an apparatus for dynamic metering of sealant volumes, and also described herein is a corresponding method. The apparatus of the invention includes two containers for sealant components; a first drive, which is connected to two devices, each of which is able to convey one of the sealant components from its container; a drive controller; a mixing unit for mixing the sealant components conveyed from the containers, having an opening for applying the sealant to a component; and also, additionally, a compensating container with a compensating volume; and a second drive, which is connected to a piston which reaches into the compensating volume of the compensating container. The compensating container in this arrangement is connected to the mixing unit. The first drive and the second drive can be dynamically controlled jointly by the drive controller.

Device and method for dynamic metering of sealing compounds

The invention relates to a sealing mass with low density and improved tensile strength on the basis of sulfur-containing polymers such as on the basis of polysulfide, polyether or/and polytioether that has a density of not more than 1.3 g/cmaccording to ISO 2781 and a tensile strength of at least 1.9 N/mmaccording to ISO 37 after curing. The invention further relates to a ground mass based on sulfur-containing polymers for producing a sealing mass that comprises at least one long-chain linear polymer and at least one short-chain branched polymer having a content in trifunctional molecules, or/and at least one multifunctional cross-linker with a number of functional groups n&#x2267;3. The invention further relates to a method for producing a sealing mass according to which at least one base polymer is mixed with at least one adhesion promoter and the at least one light filler, especially hollow filler, is added, a vacuum with a remaining pressure of less than 50 mbar being maintained during incorporation of the light filler.
