A hydrostatic driving gear is described comprising a primary unit rotationally driven by a driving engine and a secondary unit rotationally driving an actuator. Each unit comprises a variable displacement hydraulic engine, in particular an axial piston engine. They cooperate in an open circuit. The primary unit and secondary unit each have a displacement adjusting device and can be continuously adjusted in respect of their direction of displacement through a zero displacement center position in two directions of displacement. The displacement adjusting device of the primary unit has associated with it a pressure flow controller which holds the working pressure at a constant presettable value. The displacement adjusting device of the secondary unit has associated with it a speed of rotation detecting device, having a position sensor to detect the flow setting. The secondary unit also has associated with it a speed detecting device and an electronic controller is provided which detects the displacement setting of the secondary unit and its actual speed of rotation and compares it with a predetermined desired actual speed of rotation and adjusts the controller correspondingly. A secondary controlled hydrostatic driving gear in an open circuit is provided which makes four-quadrant operation possible.

In an axial piston pump of fixed or adjustable displacement having a two-part housing, namely a housing part accommodating the pistons and a connecting part through which the pressure passage and the suction passage extend, the suction passage having a suction opening with a larger cross-section than that of the pressure passage, the connecting part can be mounted to the housing part as desired in two positions turned substantially through 180.degree. about the center axis of the axial piston engine. This construction enables the pump to be adapted to operate with either direction of displacement with little trouble and expense.

In an axial piston machine of the swashplate or bent axis type having slot control and a pressure balancing passage at the inlet end of the high pressure (HP) control slot, erosion caused by the jet of the pressure balancing passage is prevented by providing at the inlet end of the HP-control slot an interference jet passage starting from the high pressure whose opening is arranged so that the directions of flow of the pressure balancing passage and the outlet of the interference jet passage intersect.

A torque control device for an adjustable hydropump is described which is based on an output control device in which the output control is determined as a function of the output pressure of the hydropump and a pressure in a working pressure control line. For this purpose a torque valve is provided whose closure power is determined by a measuring spring or set of springs connected with the pump control member and pretensioned depending on the output setting. The torque valve connects the working pressure control line with the pressureless outlet depending on the pressure in the working pressure control line and the pretension of the measuring spring. The torque valve can be fixed on to the hydropump as a separate unit and the control characteristic can be changed from outside by adjustment of the measuring spring.

The invention relates to a hydrostatic axial piston machine (1) having a cylinder drum (9), rotating in a housing, which cylinder drum receives pistons (12) arranged on a pitch circle, and having an inclined disc (16) which pivots, in a pivot, about a swivelling axis (21) which extends eccentrically to the pitch circle, which pivot is formed by at least one bearing (23) having a bearing surface (26) which is free in the direction of the pistons (12), the inclined disc (16) being arranged loosely between the bearing (23) and the pistons (12) and being pivotable by means of an adjusting member (28). The aim of the invention is to develop the axial piston machine so that, while ensuring a simple structural design sign and simple assembly and dismantling of the inclined disc (16) and of the adjusting member (28), defined limitation of the adjusting movement of the inclined disc (16) in the direction of zero position or minimum delivery is possible. This is achieved in that the adjusting member (28) is arranged on one side of a central axis and the swivelling axis is arranged on the opposite side of the central axis, and the adjusting member is located on the side of the disc which is remote from the pistons, and is guided in the end wall of the housing (2); and in that the adjusting movement of the inclined disc (16) is limited in the direction of the pistons (12) by a stop (31) which is arranged on the side of the inclined disc (16), relative to its swivelling axis (21), on which the adjusting member (28) also is disposed.

A ball-jointed bearing arrangement of the piston heads in an axial piston machine within a drive flange wherein a bearing member formed of a material with good antifriction properties for receiving a piston head is seated in a recess of the drive flange whereby all bearing members are covered by a covering plate which is detachably fastened to the drive flange. The bearing member is formed of a spherically indented cup of a flat material, such as sheet metal, which is inserted into the respective recess, which recesses conform in shape, pitch circle and distribution to the piston heads, however, are constructed in conformance with the thickness of the respective spherical dished cup deeper and larger in diameter, and in which the covering plate is traversed by the piston heads and is fastened on the side of the drive flange towards the piston heads.

A high-pressure piston pump for liquids, preferably for water, which includes a valve control through a suction and pressure valve, in which the pump pistons are movable at least in the pressure direction through the intermediary of a hydraulic drive. The hydraulic drive encompasses an axial piston machine with an oblique disk construction with an adjustable, rotationally driven inclined disk for adjustment of the stroke, whose drive pistons are each presently coupled through a hydraulic column with one of the pump pistons.

An adjusting arrangement for a hydraulic pump with a variable flow quantity, having an operating cylinder located in a neutral position through the intermediary of a positively-acting resetting device, the piston of which is adjustable dependent upon the actual discharge pressure and dependent upon a parameter proportional to the actual discharge flow quantity into a position corresponding to the rated discharge flow quantity with consideration being given to the limiting value for maximum power output, maximum discharge pressure, maximum discharge flow quantity and, as required, the flow direction. An electronic control arrangement receives electrical signals corresponding to the rated discharge flow quantity and the actual discharge flow quantity and the actual pressure, which processes these signals under calculation of the actual power output and the actual pressure, and generates corresponding setting signals for the adjustment of the operating cylinder.

An axial piston machine having an inclined axis construction, including a cylinder drum pivotally arranged within a housing, and a swivel carriage located opposite to the cylinder drum and which is supported in a sliding guide, which contains the control surface as well as the reniform control recesses on the pressure and suction sides and connects these with, respectively, a pressure or suction passageway communicating in one of the sliding guide surfaces. Included is an adjusting arrangement for setting the angular position of the cylinder drum, consisting of a displaceable setting element arranged on the housing generally in parallel with the drive shaft and of an angle lever supported in the housing so as to be pivotable about the swivel axis of the cylinder drum, whose first lever arm is articulated on the setting element and whose second lever arm engages on the swivel carriage.
