Filler metal for welding AlZnMg type alloys raises the resistance to stress corrosion without increasing the susceptibility to exfoliation corrosion. The composition of the filler metal includes a copper addition which suppresses weld boundary corrosion while additions of manganese, titanium, chromium and zirconium inhibit weld cracking. High weld strengths are attained using the said filler metal.

Filler metal in a welded assembly

An aluminum alloy of the AlCu type containing cadmium and manganese exhibits an optimum combination of strength, toughness and corrosion resistance. The alloy contains 4.0 to 5.0% copper, 0.1 to 0.2% cadmium and 0.2 to 1.0% manganese. The alloy is suitable for the production of high strength, tough and corrosion resistant extrusion products.

Aluminum base alloy

Filler metal for welding aluminum base alloys obtains improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking. The composition of the filler metal includes a copper addition which suppresses weld boundary corrosion. High weld strengths are attained using the said filler metal.

Filler metal for welding aluminum alloys

A method of production of cooking pans and the like, using an aluminum base alloy containing principally 1.2 to 2.3 % copper, 0.3 to 1.2 % nickel and other elements within prescribed ranges, the metal articles made of this alloy being provided with a good adherent coating of enamel directly applied on this metal (e.g. on the outside) and/or of other non-metallic material such as polytetrafluorethylene (e.g. on the inside) and these metal articles showing good thermal resistance at service temperatures.
