A stacking device for stacking card-shaped products in vertically upright positions. The stacking device has a brake stop that is flexible in the moving direction of the card-shaped products and mounted on a rocker-type drivable component. The rocker presses against the stack end in the stacking direction to advance the stack to receive additional products. The stacking device further includes a stack receiver defining the front end of the stack and including a holding bracket with a bearing surface. The stack receiver preferably is adjustable to accommodate varying widths of products to be stacked.

Stacking device for card-shaped products

A portable hand-held labelling device can generally have a printing mechanism, which in the case of an embodiment with printing belts and print-side guide wheels, can have the guide wheels rotationally mounted on a shaft which is fixed to the housing. The shaft can be fabricated as a single piece with the housing or a part of the housing, and the free end of the shaft can be centered and laterally fixed in a blind locator in another part of the housing. The shaft can be provided with a longitudinal groove into which a locking strip with a number of guide channels for locking elements, corresponding to the number of guide wheels, can be inserted, and in particular, inserted and locked into place. The locking elements are preferably components of a locking mechanism, which locking mechanism also includes locking locators in the bearing hole of each guide wheel, which locking locators interact with the locking elements to rotationally position the guide wheels on the shaft. The number of locking locators determines the number of defined rotational positions of each guide wheel.

Portable hand-held labelling and marking device and printing mechanism

A hand-held labelling or marking device can typically have a housing With a printing mechanism that provides a printed ink image, such as prices, etc. Such a housing can be formed by two housing parts. At least at one point, in particular on the upper portion of the housing, the housing parts can be securely held together by means of a clamp-type holder, thereby minimizing the size of the housing. The clamp-type holder can preferably include a window for displaying a row of symbols that will be printed, which symbols can be disposed on either a belt, or a wheel of a wheel printing mechanism. Each belt or wheel can be set individually by means of a control shaft. Adjacent the window, there can preferably be special symbols corresponding to the print belts or wheels, and on a control shaft for setting of the individual belts or wheels there can be corresponding symbols to make the setting process faster and easier process. A control wheel and a control lever of an advancing mechanism for serially advancing the settings of the belts or wheels can also advantageously be accessible by means of the window.

A portable printer is disclosed in which the printer comprises a housing; a printing unit; means for supplying to said printing unit a substrate onto which indicia are to be printed; and means for inputting data to control the nature of the indicia printed at said printing unit, characterized in that said housing includes a main frame which serves to support the functional components of the printer; and a protective housing which fits over said frame.

Framework for portable printers

A manual, or hand-held labelling device has a printing apparatus and a pivoting lever on which pivoting lever there is a journal pivot pin on which an inking roller can be loosely mounted. For axially securing the inking roller on the journal pivot pin, within the housing of the manual labelling device, there can be at least one raised, guide track in the form of a circular arc, on the housing of the labelling device, and on the side opposite to the pivoting lever. This guide track essentially corresponds to the path of the inking roller on the pivoting lever as the pivoting lever is moved during a labelling operation, and thus supports the inking roller from moving axially off of the pivot pin during movement of the pivoting lever during the labelling operation.

A printing mechanism is described having a plurality of type carriers (12, 34) which at their outer peripheral face carry in one region printing types and in another region indicator types (44). The printing types can be brought by turning the type carriers (12, 34) into a printing position. The turning travel of the type carriers (12, 34) can be limited with the aid of stop means (100, 102, 104, 106, 110). By means of a setting means (32, 20, 24) which can be brought by axial displacement into a drive connection with each of the type carriers (12, 34) each type carrier (12, 34) can be turned. A torque limiting means (96) permits transfer of a limited torque between a first component (32) and a second component (20) of the setting means. A securing means (68, 72) serves for axially fixed connection of the first component (32) to the second component (20). The torque limiting means is formed by resilient detent elements (96) which are disposed on the first component (32) and which are in engagement with complementary detent elements (66) on the second component (20). The securing means (68, 72) is disposed on the second component (20).

A printing mechanism comprises a housing (12, 14) in which a plurality of coaxially disposed setting wheels (16) are arranged with which type carriers (20) carrying printing types (22) are in a drive connection and can be brought into predetermined setting positions. A setting shaft (42) extends through center openings disposed in the hub region of the setting wheels (16), the setting shaft (42) being mounted rotatably and axially displaceably in a wall (15) of the housing. The shaft carries at one end at least one driver (36, 38) which by axial displacement of the setting shaft (42) is adapted to be brought into engagement with radial recesses (47) formed in the hub region of the setting wheels (16). At its other end the setting shaft (42) carries an actuating knob (48). At least two detent elements are provided for arresting the setting wheels (16) on rotation thereof and holding the setting wheels (16) in their rest position. The one detent element (70-76, 90) is so formed that it is in operative connection with the particular setting wheel (16a) selected and in addition at the most with the setting wheels (16) arranged between the selected setting wheel (16a) and the other end of the setting shaft (42).

A printing mechanism is described comprising a plurality of type carriers (12, 34) which on their outer peripheral face carry in one region printing types and in another region indicator types (44). The printing types can be brought into a printing position by turning the type carriers (12, 34). A setting means (32, 20, 24) including an actuating knob (32) can be brought into a drive connection with each of the type carriers (12, 34) for rotation thereof. Stop means (100, 102, 104, 106, 110) limit the turning travel of the type carriers (12, 34). Detent elements (96) hold the actuating knob against rotation relative to the type carrier (12, 34) which is in drive connection with the setting means (32, 20, 24), with a detent moment governed by the spring hardness of the detent elements. The spring hardness and thus the detent moment are determined so that when a moment is applied greater than the detent moment, rotation is permitted between the actuation knob and the type carrier, and when a moment is applied, there is no relative rotation between the actuation knob and the type carrier, and the type carrier is turned.

A printing mechanism is described comprising a plurality of type carriers (12, 34) which on their outer peripheral face carry in one region printing types and in another region indicator types (44). The printing types can be brought by turning the type carriers (12, 34) into a printing position. A setting means (32, 20, 24) including an actuating knob (32) can be brought into a drive connection with each of the type carriers (12, 34) for rotation thereof. Stop means (100, 102, 104, 106, 110) limit the turning travel of the type carriers (12, 34). With a detent moment governed by their spring hardness resilient detent elements (96) hold the actuating knob (32) against a rotation relatively to the type carrier (12, 34) in drive connection with the setting means (32, 20, 24), the detent moment being greater than the torque necessary to rotate the type carriers (12, 34). A setting member (112) for influencing the spring hardness of the detent elements (96) can be brought into engagement with said detent elements (96).

Setting mechanism for endless band printing device

An endless printing band (1) consists preferably of rubber or synthetic rubber and in its production is cut from a hose-like blank by cuts extending along its edge. Said printing band (1) has in the one region of its outer side visually readable characters (3) and in an opposite region laterally inverted raised printable characters (5). In the region of the readable characters (3) on the inner side (11) of the printing band (1) inwardly projecting cams (6) are provided for the advance of the band while the inner side (7) of the region comprising the printable characters (5) is smooth. To nevertheless ensure at both band regions equal amounts of material for as uniform as possible shrinkage in the production of the printing band (1) in the region of the transport cams (6) on the outer side of the band (1) remote from the cams (6) recesses (9) are provided whose lowermost point (10) lies beneath the center of the band (1) between the cams (6) and preferably substantially at the height of the inner side (11) of said band region between the cams (6). As a result, at the run (2) of the band (1 ) having cams (6) and the likewise raised readable characters (3) so much material is saved that the material accumulation of the two band regions or runs (2 and 4) is substantially the same and this gives the same shrinkage in the production.

Printing band, in particular for price marking devices

An endless printing band (1) consists preferably of rubber or synthetic rubber and in its production is cut from a hose-like blank by cuts extending along its edge. Said printing band (1) has in the one region of its outer side visually readable characters (3) and in an opposite region laterally inverted raised printable characters (5). In the region of the readable characters (3) on the inner side (11) of the printing band (1) inwardly projecting cams (6) are provided for the advance of the band while the inner side (7) of the region comprising the printable characters (5) is smooth. A printing mechanism (10) includes a plurality of setting wheels (16) which are rotatably mounted about a common axis and with which endless printing bands (20) are in drive connection which carry in a region of their length at the outer surface printing types (22) and in another region of their length carry at the outside indicating types (24). The printing bands (20) are led round the setting wheels (16) and a deflection edge (18) spaced therefrom. By turning the setting wheels (16) said bands are adjustable. In another region of their length they are provided at the inner surface with teeth (50) for engaging in corresponding recesses (52) in the setting wheels. A setting shaft (42) carrying an actuating knob (48) can be brought into a drive connection with the setting wheels (16). To limit the turning angle of the setting wheels (16) stop means are provided which include stop shoulders (74, 78) disposed in the path of movement of the tooth (50) lying at the front in the particular adjustment direction of the printing bands (20). The stop shoulders are disposed directly adjacent the deflection edge (18).

A hand labeling device for imprinting and dispensing self-adhesive labels comprises a housing (110) in which is disposed a printing mechanism (10) movable between a raised inoperative position and a lowered printing position. The printing mechanism comprises a plurality of axially adjacent setting wheels (16) with which type carriers (20) carrying printing types (22) are in a drive connection. A setting shaft (42) extending in the direction of the axis of the setting wheels (16) and connected to the printing mechanism (10) projects outwardly at a housing wall (110a); it is displaceable at a side face of the printing mechanism (10) between an inserted and an extended position and with the aid of said shaft the setting wheels (16) can be adjusted relatively to each other in such a manner that desired printing types (22) on the type carriers (20) move into a printing zone at the printing mechanism (10). Connected to the setting shaft (42) is a stop body (128) which extends parallel thereto and is displaceable with the setting shaft (42) between an extended and an inserted position. In the path which the stop body (128) describes in the extended condition when the printing mechanism (10) is lowered into the printing position a stop edge (126) fixed with respect to the housing is disposed.

Hand labeling device

A printing mechanism is described which comprises a plurality of setting wheels (16) mounted coaxially on a sleeve (28). With the setting wheels type bands (20) carrying printing types (22) are in a drive connection. In the sleeve (28) a setting shaft (42) is arranged rototably and axially displaceably. In the sleeve a slot (30) extending in the axial direction is disposed through which a tooth (36) disposed on the setting shaft engages in radial recesses (46) in the hub region of the setting wheels. A detent means comprising detent recesses in the inner region of the sleeve, into which an axially immovable detent element (54) engages, defines axial detent positions of the setting shaft. In the sleeve at least one further slot extending in the axial direction is disposed. The detent recesses are disposed in the inner region of the sleeve in a plurality of axial rows and in each row they have a different detent spacing. The detent element can be brought into any desired fixed association with one of the rows of detent recesses.
