An apparatus for separating a composite safety glass panel along at least one pre-definable dividing line, wherein the composite safety glass panel has at least one composite film and at least two glass panels, wherein the composite film is arranged between the glass panels and connects the glass panels to each other, the apparatus having at least one separating device for separating the glass panels along the at least one dividing line and at least one heating device for heating the composite film at least along the dividing line. The heating device has at least one laser device having at least multiple adjacently arranged laser beam sources, wherein multiple adjacently arranged individual intensity profiles for heating the composite film at least along a portion of the dividing line can be produced with the laser device. The invention further relates to a method for separating a composite safety glass panel.

A small glass cutting wheel for producing a scribed predetermined breaking line, wherein the cutting wheel has a radial peripheral line which defines an outer periphery of the wheel and which lies in a main plane of the wheel and at least partially forms a cutting edge. The cutting edge includes cutting teeth which are circumferentially spaced from each other by intermediate tooth spaces and the height and/or circumferential extension of the cutting teeth exceeds a surface roughness. A small glass cutting wheel for manufacturing flat displays can be manufactured with an improved edge quality so that rejected glass plate pieces can be reduced. At least a part or preferably all intermediate tooth spaces include a cutting edge. Preferably, the cutting edges of the intermediate tooth space and the cutting edges of the teeth are arranged approximately in the same main plane of the small wheel.

A suction lifter comprises a suction cup to be placed against a fixing surface and having a deformable suction disc, the suction lifter being designed for forming a hollow space subject to a partial vacuum between the suction disc and the fixing surface, wherein the suction disc is arranged between the suction cup and the fixing surface, wherein the suction cup further has a circumferential cup rim surrounding the hollow space, and wherein a circumferential supporting area of an upper side of the suction disc facing the cup rim is supported against the cup rim under a vacuum condition. The invention discloses a device and a method for producing microstructures with a spindle, which is adapted to be driven for rotation about its longitudinal axis and which is provided with a fixture for clamping a workpiece, having an actuator provided with a fast drive, in particular a piezo drive, adapted to produce fast movement of a tool in a direction substantially perpendicular to the workpiece surface, which actuator can be positioned along a workpiece surface to be worked with the aid of an additional drive adapted to produce a linear feed motion in a first direction, the fast drive being coupled with the tool via guide means that allow feeding of the tool in axial direction of the fast drive, against the action of a restoring force, and that is highly rigid in a plane perpendicular to that direction. The control technology used permits microstructures to be produced precisely and reproducibly utilizing the dynamic properties of the system.

An actuator for moving a tool is disclosed, comprising a housing in which a tappet carrying a tool holder is guided axially movable, wherein the tappet is movable by means of a fast drive, e.g. by a piezo drive or by a nanotube drive, which is biased against a restoring force and which is dampened by a dampening element. In the method of producing smaller, sheet glass plates having a predetermined geometry and lateral dimensions in the millimeter range from a larger sheet glass plate, a joining material is imprinted on one side of the larger sheet glass plate in accordance with a joining zone geometry of the smaller, sheet glass plates. Dividing lines along which the smaller, sheet glass plates are separated are specified on the larger sheet glass plate. Then the smaller, sheet glass plates are separated along the dividing lines together with the imprinted joining material into individual sheet glass plates.

Method and apparatus for making individual glass panes

A simple and economical method is described for compacting or shrinking flat glass panes. The method ensures high temperature homogeneity in the glass. First, the glass panes are cleaned and then a stack of glass panes to be treated is assembled without applying a release agent to any of the glass panes. Then the stack of glass panes is placed between ceramic panels made of silicon-infiltrated silicon carbide and this stack together with the ceramic panels is subjected to a heat treatment in a radiation furnace at temperatures ranging from 300&deg; C. to 900&deg; C. The ceramic panels have a thermal conductivity, which, in the region of the heat treatment temperature, is at least 5 times as large as that of the glass panes. The ratio of the total thickness of the ceramic panels to the height of the glass stack should be at least 1/&lgr;/40W/(mK), wherein &lgr; is the thermal conductivity of the ceramic panel at the temperatures of the heat treatment.

Device for handling thin panes of glass and fragile work pieces

The forming tool with a special structuring surface includes a reusable ceramic base tool and a replaceable metallic forming member releasably attached to the base tool and provided with a structuring surface for forming a structure in the plate glass. When the comparatively rapidly wearing forming member must be replaced, especially when structuring to form structures with sharp edges, only replacement of the metallic forming member is necessary. This two-component structure also provides additional freedom regarding selection of materials for the base tool and the structuring surface. Thus the base tool can have a comparatively smaller thermal expansion and/or conductivity and the forming member can have a comparatively higher thermal conductivity.

The method and apparatus for cutting through flat workpieces made of glass can cut through workpieces with greater thickness, e.g. glass panes with a thickness greater than 0.2 mm, than possible up to now with a comparable known method, without micro-fractures, glass fragments or splitter. In the method of the invention a heat radiation spot symmetric to the cutting line is produced on the workpiece. This heat radiation spot has edge portions with elevated radiation intensity and is moved along the cutting line on the workpiece and the heated section of the cutting line is subsequently cooled. A scanner motion produces the heat radiation spot so that edge portions of elevated radiation intensity coincide with a V- or U-shaped curve, which is open at the leading end of the heat radiation spot. The peak portion of the V- or U-shaped curve on the cutting line is at a temperature maximum that is under the melting point of the workpiece material. A controller of the scanning motion controls the scanner in circular cutting and freeform cutting so that a curved V- or U-shaped intensity distribution which fits the curved cutting path arises.
