The aim of the disclosure is to improve a battery box to the extent that, when manufactured and used in a simple manner, the performance of the battery is ensured also over a longer period of time and responses can be made to modifications to the box, to the pressures prevailing in the box, etc. This aim is achieved, according to the disclosure, by a battery box, for a block battery, for receiving at least one battery cell having an electrode plate, said battery box comprising a main body, which is made of plastics material and has two end walls, which extend substantially in parallel with the electrode plates, and two side walls, which extend substantially at a right angle to said end walls, the end walls and side walls each having a top edge and a bottom edge and being interconnected so as to form a corner edge and the side walls having on the outer faces thereof a fastening edge extending at an angle to the corner edge.

Battery box for a block battery

The disclosure relates to a system comprising a holder and stored energy sources which can be placed in the holder, in particular rechargeable batteries, each having a casing which has side walls and in which are placed electrode plates oriented parallel to the side walls and nonwoven materials containing a bound electrolyte, the electrode plates being placed between adjacent nonwoven materials. The holder consists of at least two supports placed one above the other to hold stored energy sources in such a manner that the side walls of the casing which are oriented parallel to the electrode plates are oriented substantially horizontally. At least one pressure element is situated between the supports and rests on the side walls of the casing of the stored energy sources and transmits at least the weight force of the stored energy sources situated at the top of the holder to stored energy sources situated underneath the stored energy sources situated at the top.

The disclosure relates to a traction battery, comprising a plurality of battery cells which are wired to one another and which each have positive and negative electrode plates arranged alternately with one another in a cell housing, and having a plurality of battery troughs, which each accommodate a plurality of battery cells in series, each battery trough is designed to be electrolyte-resistant and electrolyte-tight, and having a battery box accommodating the battery troughs, wherein adjacent battery troughs are arranged at a distance from one another, leaving a gap space, and wherein, underneath the battery troughs, a volume space is provided, which is in fluidic connection with the gap spaces and is used as a distribution gap space for all the gap spaces, and having a forcible flow system for a cooling medium, which has a means for generating a forcible flow, which is connected to the distributor gap space, for which purpose the distributor gap space has at the inlet end thereof a connection for a cooling medium feed line.

Traction battery

A battery cell has an electrode plate pack arranged in a casing and provided with a terminal of lead material that extends through a cover opening of the casing cover of the casing. A plastic material cap is placed onto the terminal. The cap has an inner side provided with a circumferentially extending shoulder and an exterior side provided with a circumferentially extending support web. A sealing element is arranged at the inner side of the cap between cap and terminal and is positionally fixed by the circumferentially extending shoulder. The casing cover rests on the circumferentially extending support web. Cap and casing cover are welded to each other. A threaded sleeve of nonferrous metal is embedded in the lead material of the terminal and is aligned with an insertion opening of the cap. The threaded sleeve receives a connecting screw to be passed through the insertion opening.

A separator for an electrode plate of a plate-shaped electrode of a battery, particularly a lead-acid battery, comprising a separator pocket providing a receiving space for said electrode plate and including two separator sheets bearing on each other, which are welded to each other along their respective longitudinal sides and upper front sides, the welding seam interconnecting said upper front sides presenting an interruption, which forms a recess for a current-collecting lug disposed on the upper outer edge of the electrode plate to pass through, said welding seam, for forming a degasification opening, being interrupted in a rim portion adjacent to a longitudinal side, a second welding seam spaced from said welding seam being provided which is positioned directly vis-&#xe0;-vis the degasification opening of the first welding seam.

Separator

The present invention relates to an apparatus for sealing tube plates of batteries, preferably lead-acid batteries, comprising a base body, on which projections are arranged, and when the apparatus is arranged in the intended manner, the projections engage at the end in the tubes of the tube plate.

In order to provide an improved level monitoring system for monitoring the electrolyte fill level of an accumulator, the present invention proposes a level monitoring system having a level monitoring device and a signal output device () which is arranged in a separate housing, receives signals representing the fill level of the electrolyte from the level monitoring device and outputs at least one corresponding fill level signal.

Level monitoring system

The present invention relates to a device and a method for the detection of hydrogen in a gas volume by means of an exothermal catalytic recombination of hydrogen and oxygen present in the gas volume into water. The amount of energy that is released during such an exothermal catalytic recombination is measured in the form of a temperature difference and is compared with a stored limit value. When a corresponding limit value is exceeded an appropriate signal is output.

For an improved recombination system serving to catalytically recombine hydrogen and oxygen, which form in a storage battery, into water and incorporating an adapter union assembly for the gas-tight connection of the system to a storage battery, a container which is gas-impermeable to the outside and which houses a recombination assembly, as well as a conduit for the loss-less gas intake from the adapter union to the container and water return flow in the opposite direction, whereby even in the event of an overload the hazard of escaping gas can be avoided and the efficacy of the catalytic unit can be maintained while at the same time the system can be produced at low cost and in a way as to be easily assembled and maintenance-free, this invention proposes to provide next to the conduit an expansion section which is open toward the outside but delimited by an ignition suppressor, and to connect the conduit with the expansion section by way of a gating aperture.
