A connection arrangement between a mowing sickle drive and a linear reciprocating mowing sickle has a first metallic connection element (). The first connection element () forms either one component with the mowing sickle () or serves to connect the same. The first connection element () is at least partially formed annularly and includes a circular cylindrical bore (), which defines a longitudinal axis (). The first connection element () is slotted and includes a clamping mechanism () to change the cross-section of the bore (). A metallic ring () has a circular cylindrical outer face () to nest in bore (). A hollow spherical inner face () is on the intermediate ring (). The intermediate ring () has at least one slot on its circumference. A rotational rolling member bearing has an outer metallic bearing ring () and is closed in a circumferential direction. The outer bearing ring () has a spherical outer bearing face (), which is formed into the inner face () of the intermediate ring () and enclosed by the intermediate ring (). The outer bearing ring has at least one outer race (). At least one metallic inner bearing ring (), closed in a circumferential direction is positioned inside of said outer bearing ring (). The inner ring () includes at least one inner race () and has a through extending receiving bore (). Rolling members () are arranged between the outer race () and the inner race (). A second connection element (), which includes a driving trunnion (), rests in the receiving bore ().

Connection arrangement between a drive of a mowing sickle and a mowing sickle

A mowing blade that performs an oscillating linear motion, has a blade bar, with at least two bar sections that are located one behind the other along a longitudinal axis. The front faces of the sections abut one another and have respective recesses. The thickness of the bar sections is reduced in recessed areas. A connecting fish plate, which can for example be constructed from a high strength material, is placed in the recesses. The blade sections, bar sections and fish plate are connected by cap screws and securing nuts. A blade section covers the butt joint between the two bar sections. The configuration enables absorption of inertial forces caused by the backwards and forwards reciprocating motion and compressive forces that result from the motion in the connection region.
