An apparatus for connecting at least two rods by a wire clamp comprises, mounted on one housing portion, a movable handle portion for the advance of said wire clamp, and closing jaws which are adapted to bring the locking portions of the wire clamp into engagement beneath the rods to be connected, and in the other housing portion, a binding hook fitted on a knurled rod, in order to twist the closed loop of the wire clamp which is situated above the rods to be connected. A sliding plate, which is connected to the handle, comprises a mechanism directed to actuating a bending pin on one of the closing jaws, in order to provide for positive interlocking of the wire clamp, and a mechanism for controlling and achieving safe individualization and advance of the wire clamps. Such an apparatus is adapted for reliable, swift and relatively comfortable operation even when exposed to the rough handling on a construction site.

Apparatus for connecting at least two rods

In a method for connecting at least two rods, wherein a binding apparatus, which is provided with a rotatable hook member, seizes a wire loop, which extends around the rods, and twists the loop during a pulling movement. The wire clamp or clip which has leg portion ends provided with locking means is brought around the rods to be connected in such a manner that, when viewed from the hook member the locking means are brought into engagement with each other behind the rods, and the closed wire clamp in front of the rods is seized by the hook member of the binding apparatus and twisted. The device is required for this purpose includes a binding apparatus which has a slide member connected to a displaceable gripping member for the forward advancement of the wire clamp and closing jaws which are adapted to bring the locking members on the wire clamp into engagement behind the rods to be connected. In this method and with this device, it is possible to achieve a connection between two reinforcement steel roeds in one working operation, by a forward-pushing movement and a backward-pulling movement, so as to eliminate the complicated process of inserting the binding wire behind the rods to be connected. This method in particular, considerably facilitates the work on the ground. The method also permits less specialized personnel to be used and, in addition, is quicker than conventional methods.

Method and device for connecting at least two rods

A twistable wire clamp for connecting objects has a V-shaped configuration, the lower portion of each of its two shanks forming an oblong loop having locking means consisting of the closed end of the narrower loop, on one hand, and of a locking member projecting towards the inside of the wider loop and extending in the same plane as the loop, on the other hand. On each side of the transitional portion between said two shanks, said clamp is provided with a respective shoulder. Said clamp is placed, by means of an apparatus, around the objects to be connected or the opening to be closed, after which said locking means are brought into engagement with one another by said apparatus, and said wire clamp is seized in the area of said transitional portion and twisted by a binding hook of the apparatus. Said loops are convex with respect to their plane, and said closed end portion has a thinning and is bent over towards said other loop. Such a wire clamp provides reliable operation of the apparatus when effecting connections.

Twistable wire clamp for connecting or closing objects

The device for twisting wires has a twisted rod with a binding hook, which is set into rotation upon pulling a handle part. The binding hook is pivotable around an axle and is held in the normal position by a stop slider engaging in recesses of the binding hook. When the wire loop around the binding hook is tightened, a catch is lifted up, whereby the stop slider and thus the binding hook are unlocked and pivoted, so that it can slip from the wire loop. Such a device enables a constant, optimum twisting of the wire without the risk of rupture thereof, and it permits automatic release of the binding hook by one and the same pulling movement.

Device for twisting wires for connecting rods

A method of, and apparatus for, interconnecting the overlapping band sections of a packaging or strapping band wrapped around an article, by means of a closure seal having closure flaps extending in the lengthwise direction of the seal and located at oppositely situated sides of a floor or base portion of the seal. The closure flaps protrude from the seal. These closure flaps of the closure seal which bears at its base portion upon a counter holder, are placed over one another and pressed against the base portion by means of a rolling or roller element which is moved in the lengthwise direction of the closure seal from one end thereof and over such closure seal. The band sections bearing upon the base portion are fixedly clamped between the closed closure flaps and the base portion. The rolling or roller element is seated upon a rotatable shaft moved translatory in lengthwise direction of the closure seal by means of a rack-and-pinion drive. The rolling element is rotated by means of a toothed segment which is rigidly connected for rotation with the rolling element and, during the lengthwise displacement of the rotatable shaft, rolls upon a stationary gear rack.
