A printing mechanism is preceded by a single feeding region for separate papers and endless papers. The feeding region comprises an inlet duct for manually feeding separate papers, a tractor for the transport of endless papers arranged fixedly under the inlet duct and at least one cassette for automatically feeding separate papers. The cassette is detachably arranged above the inlet duct and is inclined obliquely forwards.

Device comprising a printing mechanism

An office machine, for example, a printer, with a printing unit, individual paper transport via driving rollers and endless paper transport via a tractor is to be designed in such a way that as many operating modes as possible can be obtained by simple means. This is achieved at least one releasable cassette for individual paper is in the entry region of a printing unit. A tractor is pivotalby adjustable into a pushing and a pulling position and is located behind the printing unit. The following operating modes are selectable by adjustment of the tractor positions coupled to further components:

A pivotally journalled ink ribbon cassette and an ink ribbon fork are coupled to the carriage of a printing head and arranged so as to be displaceable transversely to the line direction, in a simple manner such that both a multi-color and a single-color mode of operation are obtained. The ink ribbon fork is arranged at its free end so as to be pivotable and longitudinally displaceable on a guide rod journalled in guide arms of the ink ribbon cassette, and in that with respect to the position of the printing roller and of the printing head both means for transverse displacement of the ink ribbon fork and means for oblique positioning of the ink ribbon cassette with ink ribbon are provided.

Printer

A matrix printer comprising a printing head which is pivotable, under the influence of the braking effect of a magnetic field, about an axis which is perpendicular to the line direction and to the surface of the paper to be printed. The different printing positions of the printing head realized by said pivoting motion are utilized for printing characters with a comparatively good recognizability at a comparatively low printing speed or, as desired, for printing characters which are less rapidly recognizable at a comparatively high printing speed. Matrix printers of this kind are used, for example, in text editing systems.

Matrix printer with magnetic head adjustment

A matrix printer with a printing head which is displaceable along a paper guide in the line direction and which has a number of printing elements which have a first printing position for printing from left to right and a second printing position for printing from right to left. The printing head with its printing elements is automatically moved from the one printing position to the other printing position by variation of the impulse of movement of the printing head upon each movement reversal of the printing head by means of a position changer which is displaceable with respect to the printing head.

A stylus printing head comprising a number of electromagnets which operate the printing styli and which are clamped on a conical carrier by means of a clamping device. The carrier comprises cradle-shaped, resilient supports for each of the electromagnets. The resilient supports compensate for differences in expansion of the electromagnets, the carrier and the clamping device in reaction to temperature variations occurring. The resilience of the supports is obtained by means of slots in the carrier which enable the use of a plurality of carriers in the same printing head.

A guide for directing a printing head parallel to a printing direction in a printing device, the said printing head being displaceable along two parallel, round guide rods which are maintained at a fixed distance from each other by sheet-metal clamps which extend transversely of the longitudinal direction of the rods and which are provided with bearing apertures in which the guide rods are clamped. The guide offers a comparatively high resistance against bending, so that a constant distance is maintained between printing head and record carrier.

Guide for a printing head of a printing device

A guide for limiting displacement of a printing head parallel to the printing direction in a printing device. The printing head is displaceable along two parallel guide rods which are detachably connected on a supporting beam which extends parallel to the guide rods. The supporting beam is detachably connected to two side plates which extend transversely of the beam and which are provided with projections which fit in recesses provided at each of the end faces of the beam. The guide provides a mechanically stable construction that is readily detachable.
