In a machine tool arrangement comprising a machine tool component including a mounting structure for a work piece to be machined by a suitable metal cutting tool, a housing enclosing the machine tool component, a horizontal support beam is disposed above the housing and carries handling equipment for supplying work pieces from an adjacent loading area to the machine component for machining and returning the finished work pieces to the storage structure and an intermediate storage structure is disposed near the machine tool component for temporarily storing unfinished work pieces to be machined and finished work pieces after being machined.

Machine tool with work piece handling arrangement

A machine for machining workpieces has at least one milling tool with an internal cutter. The machine is provided with a first guide system and a second guide system parallel to the first guide system. The first guide system has at least one compound slide having a slide part, wherein the at least one compound slide is moveable in a longitudinal direction of the first guide system and wherein the slide part is moveable transversely to the longitudinal direction. A milling tool is secured on the slide part. The first and second guide systems have sliding guides or roller bearing guides. The at least one compound slide has a transverse guide system and the slide part is guided on the transverse guide system.

Machine for machining workpieces, especially crankshafts and camshafts, with at least one internal cutter milling tool

A center drive support for supporting a crankshaft during machining in a machining device comprises a rotatably drivable support member and a drive unit. The rotatably drivable support member has a carrier with at least two clamping elements with clamping ends. The clamping elements are displaceable between a clamping position and a release position for the crankshaft. The clamping elements clamp the crankshaft between their clamping ends. The drive unit is connected to the clamping elements for applying a required clamping force in the clamping position during rotation of the support member. The drive unit includes a clamping motor and a drive shaft connected to the clamping motor. It further includes a gear unit connected between the drive shaft and the carrier. The gear unit, during machining of the crankshaft in the clamping position, follows the rotation of the support member against the toque of the clamping motor.

Center drive support for supporting a crank shaft during machining

A crankshaft milling or a similar milling machine has been provided with a measuring pick-up which measures heat expansion of the clamping vises and of the milling drums for providing a correction value which is then supplied to the feed advance drives for the respective milling units to compensate for such heat expansions for accurate milling operations.
