Dispersible pigment granules are produced by mixing an aqueous suspension of an organic pigment with an aqueous emulsion of a wax-like additive. The aqueous emulsion is then allowed to coagulate and the resulting aqueous dispersion is spray dried.

Method for the production of pigment granules

The invention relates to a powdery pigment preparation containing a pigment which is dispersed in an acrylate resin and which is characterized in that the acrylate resin has an average molecular mass Mw ranging from 40000 to 80000 g/mol and is a copolymer comprised of 50 to 65 mol % ethyl methacrylate, of 30 to 45 mol % butyl methacrylate, and of 0.5 to 5 mol % methacrylic acid. The powdery pigment preparation can be used for dyeing films, particularly those made of polymethyl methacrylate. The films do not have any specks nor holes.

A green pigment preparation that is characterized by a C.I. Pigment Yellow 214 and at least one copper phthalocyanine pigment C.I. Pigment Blue 15:3 and/or C.I. Pigment Blue 15:1 content, the ratio of C.I. Pigment Yellow 214 to the at least one copper phthalocyanine pigment being in the range from 1:20 to 20:1. The inventive pigment preparation are especially suitable for the low-warpage colouring of semicrystalline plastics with pure green tones.

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of pigment granules, which comprises adding a wax or a waxy polymer to an organic pigment during the finish in an organic or aqueous organic medium and spray-drying the aqueous suspension obtained after removal of the organic solvent by steam distillation or washing out with water.
