A godet for guiding at least one advancing yarn in a yarn processing operation. The godet comprises a tubular casing which is mounted for free rotation on a support by means of a plurality of bearings. At least one of the bearings is a radially operative magnetic bearing, which comprises a rotating part and a stationary part attached to the support, with a bearing gap formed between the parts. The stationary part includes at least one pole element with an excitation winding, and the rotating part is made of at least one laminated component of a magnetizable material which is fixed on the inner side of the tubular casing. The pole element and the laminated component cooperate for guiding a magnetic flux.

A godet roll for guiding, heating and conveying yarn on the circumference of a hollow-cylindrical godet roll casing. The godet roll casing is seated on a projecting support by at least one magnetic bearing having bearing pole windings, and a heating device with heating pole windings is arranged on the support. Some bearing pole windings and at least one heating pole winding are arranged together in one bearing plane, so that the bearing areas can be heated. Sensors provided for detecting the position of the godet roll casing are arranged outside of an annular chamber formed between the godet roll casing and the support in order to prevent a thermal overload of the sensors.

The bearing pole windings are arranged on the support at spacings from one another circumferentially about the support and also at spacings along the support in a plurality of adjacent bearing planes in order to make possible a low-vibration guidance of the godet roll casing.

In blade changing devices the phase length of the oppositely rotating blades of a changing unit must be exactly determined to guarantee at the ends of the changing region a reliable thread transfer. When the arrangement is composed of several changing units, the first rotors are driven by a common drive belt in form of a flat multi-shaft transmission and the second rotors are driven by another common drive belt. Due to length deviations of the both drive belts phase errors can occur and lead to disturbances of the thread laying. In order to eliminate this, the first rotors of all changing units are driven by a single drive belt. The same drive belt drives also the second rotors through a separate intermediate transmission associated with the individual changing units. The arrangement is especially suitable for spooling machines for synthetic threads running with high speed.
