A two-component system for the preparation of a hydrogel for preventing and/or treating a periodontal disease, selected from the group consisting of periimplantitis, gingivitis, periodontitis and peri-implant mucositis. The two-component system comprises as a first component an aqueous suspension having a pH value of less than 7 comprising a pH-sensitive gelling agent, and as a second component a sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) solution at a pH in the range of 10 to 13. The first component is physically separated from the second component.

The present invention refers to a dental implant or abutment including a ceramic body having a surface, the ceramic body including zirconia as the main component. At least a first surface area of the ceramic body is covered with an at least essentially monomolecular phosphate layer having a thickness of less than 1.0 nm. The phosphate layer contains phosphates selected from the group consisting of ortho-phosphate, poly-phosphates, cyclo-phosphates, and mixtures thereof. Furthermore, a kit including a gas- and liquid-tight container, with the dental implant or abutment being stored inside the container, and a method for the preparation of the dental implant or abutment are disclosed.

Dental implant or abutment comprising a ceramic body covered with a monomolecular phosphate layer

Body made of a ceramic material, the body having as an integral part thereof a surface region reaching from the surface of the body down to a predetermined depth. According to the invention, the surface region is enriched with a calcium component thereby forming a hydrophilic surface area.
