A device for intake manifold pressure-based determination of the air mass flowing into the cylinder combustion chamber is provided. A logic unit determines the inflowing air mass based on the intake manifold pressure using a calculation model for load detection that determines the intake manifold pressure in an upper partial range of the intake manifold pressure. A sensor device for direct detection of the intake manifold pressure measures the intake manifold pressure only in a lower partial range of the intake manifold pressure in the internal combustion engine. The logic unit determines the inflowing air mass as a function of the intake manifold pressure measured by the sensor deice when within the lower partial range of the intake manifold pressure, and based on the intake manifold pressure determined by use of the calculation model when within the upper partial range.

Device for pressure-based load detection

A process control system for controlling at least one process actuator includes a first process model for driving at least one process actuator in such a manner that at least one process desired manipulating variable is generated for driving at least one process actuator; a second process model, which generates a process actual variable from at least one process actual manipulating variable of the at least one process actuator; and another process element for generating a comparison process actual variable. The first process model can be mapped by inverting the second process model, and a process actual variable difference, which is formed from a process actual variable and a comparison process actual variable, is fed via a control unit to the first and second process models. The process element is designed as a third process model with higher reproduction precision and includes at least one non-invertible process component.

Process control system

A device and a method for reading out adaptation values of self-adapting functions from a motor vehicle control unit to an external readout unit are provided. The device consists of a motor vehicle control unit, an external readout unit, and a communication interface between the external readout unit and the motor vehicle control unit, the motor vehicle control unit including a nonvolatile memory for storing adapted parameters or parameter sets of the self-adapting functions. The motor vehicle control unit additionally includes a receiver for receiving at least one test value set transmitted by the external readout unit, a calculation unit for calculating at least one adaptation value as a function of the test value set and the adapted parameters or parameter sets, and a transmitter for transmitting the at least one calculated adaptation value to the external readout unit.

Apparatus and method for reading adaptive values out of motor vehicle control devices

A method for model-based determination of the total fresh air mass flowing into the cylinder combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine during an intake phase is described. The method includes, steps of ascertaining a first partial air mass on the basis of a first load partial model, the first load partial model having a linear behavior, ascertaining a second partial air mass on the basis of a second load partial model, the second load partial model having a nonlinear behavior, and determining the total air mass by adding together the previously ascertained partial air masses.

Method for model-based determination of the fresh air mass flowing into the cylinder combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine during an intake phase

A method for diagnosing errors in an intake system of an internal combustion engine having a variable intake manifold geometry is provided. According to the method, an air mass flow oscillation in the intake manifold is detected at an engine rotational speed that is present, the detected air mass flow oscillation is subjected to signal analysis to determine a characteristic actual oscillation variable which is compared to a setpoint oscillation variable associated with the engine rotational speed that is present.

Method for diagnosing errors in an intake system of an internal combustion engine having a variable intake manifold geometry

A control device for controlling an internal combustion engine with a variably controlled valve stroke and with a butterfly valve in an air intake tract is provided. The control device is equipped with devices with which the even running of the internal combustion engine is monitored and through which the butterfly valve is actuated in the closing direction when a defined uneven running threshold value has been exceeded and when the valve stroke is smaller than a specified threshold until the value drops below the uneven running threshold value again.
