An adaptive hydropneumatic pulsation damper is especially suited for hydraulic systems subject to pulsation with a strongly variable operating pressure. Because of good damping action, the pulsation damper makes a hydraulically firm coupling possible between hydraulic system elements, e.g., a pressure source and a consumer.

In a front cover which is mounted on the front end of an internal combustion engine to cover an engine camshaft drive mechanism and which includes means for supporting auxiliary engine components such as a power steering pump, the front cover further includes a slide-in mounting structure supporting a container which, when inserted into the slide-in mounting structure, is firmly supported by the front cover and communicatively connected to an auxiliary engine component.

A piston pump is constructed so that the displacer or piston working strokes occur in sequence with varying phase differences which have a non-integral ratio to one another. Thereby, the risk of excitation of noise or resonance vibrations is greatly reduced.

Sequential displacement piston pump

A hydraulic flow control apparatus has shape memory alloy springs which develop substantial actuating forces only at relatively high temperature. As a result of these forces, an only relatively slightly throttled connecting path between delivery side and intake side of a pump is opened directly or indirectly.
