An apparatus having a support structure, including two nasal flow passages aligned with one another and with respect to a nasal respiratory flow direction, and an oral flow passage disposed transverse to the two nasal flow passages, along an oral respiratory flow direction, the nasal flow passages and oral flow passages having thermistors to monitor a patient's respiration, and the apparatus having a thermistor for monitoring ambient conditions and an accelerometer for monitoring movement of the apparatus. The apparatus also detecting and distinguishing between oral and individual nasal air flows, and integration of the apparatus and monitored data with a network.

Nasal and oral respiration sensor

A respiration sensor fluid delivery device is provided. The device includes first and second nasal exhalation flow passages that extend through the device, wherein the first and second nasal exhalation flow passages can be aligned in parallel to one another with respect to a nasal respiratory flow direction. A housing of the respiration sensor fluid delivery device fluidly couples with one of a nasal cannula assembly and a respiratory mask assembly. The device provides for respiration monitoring of a subject via a sensor and fluid delivery, such as oxygen, to the subject. Methods of using a respiration sensor fluid delivery device and fluid delivery devices are also provided.

Respiration sensor attachment device

A liquid separator removing a liquid from a sample of a breathing gas flowing through an airway adapter having a channel surrounded by a wall is disclosed herein. The separator includes a chamber receiving the sample, and a membrane having an outer surface exposed to the gas flow, the membrane at least partially surrounding the chamber, which membrane separates the liquid received by the chamber. The separator also includes a supporting structure for supporting the membrane, and a connector operationally attached to the supporting structure, the connector being connectable to the adapter. The connector comprises a cavity providing a flow path for the sample from the chamber through an opening of the cavity to a sample tube. The membrane branches from a central part of the channel into at least two different branches extending to different directions.

Connector part comprising a body part for connecting to a counterpart for creating a fluid tight seal when fitted together. The connector part also comprises a seal element made of resilient material and a space which is capable to receive the seal element made of resilient material when the fluid tight seal is made. The connector part can be used for forming a fluid tight connection structure.

A sensor for measuring a respiration is disclosed herein. The sensor includes at least one housing () having a first cavity () with a first port () allowing a respiration gas flow, and a second cavity () with a second port () also allowing a respiration gas flow. The sensor also includes at least one breathing detector () for acquiring a signal indicative of the respiration gas flowing through the first cavity and the second cavity. The at least one housing is equipped with at least one additional port () for removing the respiration gas flow coming from the first cavity and the second cavity, which additional port being separate from the first port and the second port.

Respiratory sensor

The present disclosure relates to methods for manufacturing porous mesh plates for use in ultrasonic mesh nebulizers, and the porous mesh plates manufactured by those methods. Cone-shaped dimples are first drilled in a substrate (e.g. a plate), but do not penetrate the bottom of the substrate. Next, the substrate (e.g. a plate) is subject to an electrochemical process to remove a layer of material from the surface of the substrate. Enough material is removed to allow the dimples to penetrate the substrate, thereby creating holes in the substrate. The size of the holes can be controlled by the conditions of the electrochemical process.

An arrangement for fastening at least one sensor to a face of a subject to acquire a signal indicative of one or more patient physiological parameter is disclosed herein. The arrangement includes a sensor holder for placing the sensor and having at least one fixing point. The arrangement also includes at least one ribbon being stretching for fastening the sensor holder by means of the at least one fixing point to an ear of the subject. Also a measuring assembly is disclosed herein.

A non-dispersive single beam detection assembly in an infrared gas analyzer. The detection assembly comprises radiation source(s) providing infrared radiation, a measuring chamber, and a physical beam splitter for dividing said radiation beam into a reflected beam portion and a transmitted beam portion, or for combining a reflected beam portion and a transmitted beam portion into said radiation beam. A measuring detector receives one beam portions, and a reference detector receives another beam portion. Alternatively a measuring/reference detector receives both beam portions. Said transmitted beam portion has a first spectral intensity peak at shorter wavelengths with a first peak wavelength, and said reflected beam portion has a second spectral intensity peak at longer wavelengths with a second peak wavelength. There is a wavelength gap between said second peak wavelength and said first peak wavelength, which gap corresponds a wavelength shift of an optical interference filter with said second peak wavelength as tilted from its perpendicular position to an angled position. Said wavelength gap is at maximum 10% of the second peak wavelength, and at minimum 0.5% of the second peak wavelength.

Simplified beam splitter for IR gas sensor

A branching unit for delivering a respiratory gas of a subject is disclosed herein. The branching unit includes a first limb for delivering an expiratory gas during an expiratory phase and a second limb for delivering an inspiratory gas during an inspiratory phase. The branching unit also includes a third limb for delivering both the expiratory gas and the inspiratory gas and a common branching point for the first limb, the second limb and the third limb. The first limb, the second limb and the third limb include a volume for the respiratory gas and which volume includes both an active volume with the gas exchanging between the inspiratory phase and the expiratory phase and a dead volume for the respiratory gas with insufficient gas exchange from the inspiratory phase to the expiratory phase and the dead volume being less than 1 ml.

Branching unit and arrangement for delivering a respiratory gas of a subject

A gas analyzer is disclosed herein. The gas analyzer includes a light source for transmitting a radiation and a sampling chamber having a first opening for receiving a gas sample, a second opening for removing the gas sample, at least one optical window towards the radiation allowing the radiation to traverse the gas sample and also having a first wall and a second wall opposite to the first wall, the first wall and second wall edging the sampling chamber to guide the gas sample from the first opening to the second opening. The gas analyzer also includes at least one detector for receiving the radiation after traversing the gas sample. The first wall and the second wall of the sampling chamber is curved and at a predetermined distance from each other, an overall shape of the second wall being mostly similar to the first wall.

The invention concerns a gas analyzer, which comprises: an electromagnet that has an air gap; a power source for supplying cyclically variable electrical current/voltage to said electromagnet; a sample gas conduit and a reference gas conduit opening into said air gap; an exit conduit communicating with said air gap for removing the intermixed sample and reference gases; pressure detecting microphone or microphones connected to said sample gas conduit and to said reference gas conduit for sensing gas pressures at a first acoustic measuring frequency in the respective conduits giving at least one acoustic pressure signal component; and electronics connected to said microphone(s) to receive said acoustic pressure signal component or components to form at least a first intermediate output signal describing content of a paramagnetic gas component in the sample gas.

The invention relates to paramagnetic gas analyzer with a housing, comprising: an electromagnet with an air gap; power source for said electromagnet; a sample gas conduit and a reference gas conduit into said air gap; an exit conduit communicating with said air gap for removing the intermixed gases; pressure detecting microphones connected to said sample gas conduit and to said reference gas conduit for sensing the gas pressures; as well as electronics. The pressure detecting microphones comprise two independent microphonic membranes that are parallel to each other, their pressure surfaces being to the same direction, or to the opposite directions. The electrical outputs of the microphones provide signals that are proportional to gas pressures in the sample gas and reference gas conduits, and that are further processed in the electronics to eliminate effects of mechanical shocks or the like.

Detector mounting in paramagnetic gas analyzers

A paramagnetic oxygen sensor and method employs a pressure sensor having a membrane extending through an air gap for a magnetic field. A piezoelectric element is mounted on the membrane. Gas chambers are formed on either side of the membrane. The gas mixture, the properties of which are to be measured, is supplied to one of the chambers. A reference gas is applied to the other chamber. A pulsating magnetic field is provided across the air gap and through the chambers containing the gas mixture and reference gas. The differing responses of the gas mixture and reference gas to the magnetic field deflect the membrane. The deflection of the membrane is sensed by the piezoelectric element. The piezoelectric element maybe operated either in a passive mode or active mode to sense the deflection of the membrane.
