Dual layer detector (XD) for X-ray imaging, comprising at least two light sensitive surfaces (LSS,LSS). The dual layer detector further comprises a first scintillator layer (SL, SL) including at least one scintillator element (SE) capable of converting X-radiation into light, the element having two faces, an ingress face (S) for admitting X-radiation into the element (SE) and an egress face (S) distal from the ingress face (S), wherein the two faces (S,S) are arranged shifted relative to each other, so that a longitudinal axis (LAX) of the scintillator element (SE) is inclined relative to a normal (n) of the layer. The scintillator element (SE) has a sidewall (w,w) extending between the two faces (S,S), the scintillator layer (SL) further comprising a second such scintillator element (SE') having a sidewall (w&#x2032;,w&#x2032;), the second scintillator element (SE&#x2032;) neighboring the first scintillator element (SE), wherein the sidewall (w,w) of the first scintillator element (SE) and the sidewall (w&#x2032;,w&#x2032;) of the second scintillator element (SE) are neighbored and are inclined relative to each other. The dual layer detector (XD) further comprises a second such scintillator layer (SL). One of the light sensitive surfaces (LSS,LSS) is arranged in between the two scintillator layers (SL, SL).

X-ray detector with focused scintillator structure for uniform imaging

An X-ray detector is positioned relative to an X-ray source such that at least a part of a region between the X-ray source and the X-ray detector is an examination region for accommodating an object. The X-ray source and X-ray detector are controlled by a processing unit in order to operate in a first imaging operation mode, a second imaging operation mode, and/or a third imaging operation mode. The detector comprises a first scintillator, a second scintillator, a first sensor array, and a second sensor array. The first scintillator is disposed over the second scintillator such that X-rays emitted from the X-ray source first encounter the first scintillator and then encounter the second scintillator.

This 'multiblock' may comprise several x-ray sources with focal spot positions distributed along the x-y (table) plane. The switching may be carried out so that several images with different projection angles can be acquired in parallel. Driving of an X-ray detector to compensate for cross scatter in an X-ray imaging apparatus

A radiation system (), comprising a patient support platform (). An X-ray radiation source () is positioned beneath the patient support platform and enclosed by fixed radiation shielding. An X-ray radiation detector () is positioned above the patient support platform. The high-energy radiation quantum is a gamma ray and the low-energy radiation quantum is an X-ray.

An X-ray detector () includes a light detection arrangement () such as a CMOS photodetector, a scintillator layer () such as a CsI:Tl layer, a reflector layer () and a light emission layer () interposed between the scintillator layer () and the reflector layer (). A system for providing a simulated spatial live viewing of an object includes a cathode arrangement configured to generate an electron beam towards a target area of an anode, and a processor configured to control the electron beam to hit the anode at a moving focal spot that moves at least in a first moving direction transverse to a viewing direction. Thus, X-ray radiation is generated by the electron beam impinging on the moving focal spot. Further, the system includes a detector configured to detect X-ray radiation at least partially passing an object and to generate respective X-ray detection signals. The processor is further configured to generate monoscopic 2D images based on the detection signals, where the monoscopic 2D images relate to different view-points as defined by the moving focal spot. A display is configured to display the monoscopic 2D images are from the different view-points.

A radiation detector device for detecting a primary radiation includes a scintillator which generates a converted primary radiation in response to incoming primary radiation and a photo detector for detecting the converted primary radiation. An X-ray imaging system includes an x-ray image acquisition unit, a display unit, an input unit, and adapting means. The x-ray image acquisition unit acquires a first image of a volume of interest of an object in a first projection direction and acquires a second image in a second projection direction. The display unit displays the first and the second image. The input unit determines the second projection direction by an input of a user. The user input includes a change in a viewing-direction of the user viewing the first image. The adapting means adapt a spatial relation between the projection direction of the image acquisition unit and the volume of interest of the object such that the projection direction correlates with the second viewing direction.

Direct control of X-ray focal spot movement

An X-ray tube includes a cathode, an anode, and a deflection device. The cathode and the anode generate an electron beam that is directed toward a target area of the anode to generate X-ray radiation through electrons of the electron beam impinging the target area. The deflection device controls the electron beam such that the electrons hit the anode at different focal spot positions. The deflection device provides gradual deflection for a stepless transition between monoscopic viewing and stereoscopic viewing. For monoscopic viewing, the X-ray radiation is generated from a single focal spot position. For stereoscopic viewing, the X-ray radiation is generated from two focal spot positions spaced apart in a first stereo-direction transverse to a viewing direction. The deflection device provides gradual deflection for a stereo focal spot position in a second stereo-direction, which is transverse to the first stereo-direction and the viewing direction.

Live 3D X-ray viewing

A system, apparatus and method are provided for measuring and removing the influence of pulsatility on contrast agent flow in a region of interest of a vascular system of a patient. Once the change of blood speed over the cardiac cycle is known (pulsatility), this influence is removed from acquired image sequence for outcome control such that 'quasi-stationary', regular flow acquisition is passed on to subsequent visualization and analysis processes. A contrast agent injector is also provided that simultaneously measures and uses ECG to inject a known contrast agent at a fixed point over the cardiac cycle or such that a known amount of contrast agent will arrive at a known time at a region of interest in the vasculature of a patient, thus controlling one of the main unwanted variables in an acquisition of blood flow sequences.
