Apparatus and assemblies for automated sterile collection of urine and other biomaterials for medical testing, law enforcement testing, etc. Individual sample collection cartridges include an inflatable collection conduit and an inflatable collection vessel. The collection vessel can be sealed in multiple locations in a chronologically sequential manner to segregate an initial or 'dirty' portion of a urine stream.

Biomaterial collection method

A system for hands-free collection of biomaterials, such as urine, in a vessel disposed below a closable port, the vessel being sealable by an at least partially automated sealing mechanism, the sealed vessel being transferable to a storage area. In general terms this application is directed to a hands-free, biomaterial collection system that is it least partially automated. In one aspect, a biomaterial collection system comprises a biomaterial capture area including a port, a collection area disposed below the capture area, a vessel disposed in the collection area and aligned with the port, and a sealing mechanism disposed in the collection area for sealing the vessel.

System for collecting biomaterial in a vessel

An apparatus and method for automatically collecting urine samples from a patient are described. The apparatus includes a toilet bowel with a reservoir and a urine collection receptacle that is a flexible heat sealable plastic bag in an enclosure mounted exterior to the reservoir. The receptacle can be rotated into the toilet reservoir to collect urine and removed therefrom by rotating it back into the enclosure. The opening to the bag is then heat sealed to produce a urine sample packet. The receptacle may be automatically divided into a plurality of urine sample packets by heat sealing the bag at several locations along its length and then cutting the bag at the appropriate heat sealed locations. Each packet is then printed with patient indicia. The sample packets then pass through an opening in the enclosure for removal and subsequent analysis. An electrical activation interface is provided to control the process.

Urine sample collection apparatus

An air freshener canister includes a container, a nipple thereon and a cap threadably matable therewith. The cap can be positioned along the length of the nipple from a closed position with the cap rim against the exterior surface of the container and an open position wherein there is spacing between the rim and exterior surface. A volatile liquid in the container emits air freshener vapors. A wick runs from the liquid to the nipple. When the cap is in the open position, vapors escape from the wick through the spacing. When the cap is in the closed position the vapors are prevented from escaping. When the cap is removed from the nipple the container may be refilled with the volatile liquid. The escape of vapors may be increased or decreased by positioning the cap on the nipple to increase or decrease the spacing.
