A display apparatus includes a gate line, a first data line which receives a first data signal, a second data line which receives a second data signal having a gray scale lower than a gray scale of the first data signal and a polarity opposite to the first data signal, a short gate line which receives a short gate signal, and a plurality of pixels, each pixel including a first sub-pixel which displays a first image corresponding to the first data signal, a second sub-pixel which displays a second image corresponding to the second data signal, and a switching device which electrically connects the first sub-pixel and the second sub-pixel in response to the short gate signal. A pixel alternately displays a display image and a black image in a unit of at least one frame.

Display apparatus having a short gate line and method of driving the same

A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a first pixel electrode, a second pixel electrode, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The first pixel electrode is formed on the first substrate. The second pixel electrode overlaps with at least a part of the pixel electrode with the first insulating layer interposed therebetween. The second pixel electrode has a plurality of elongated openings and applies a voltage to the liquid crystal layer that is different from the voltage the first pixel electrode applies to the liquid crystal layer.

Liquid crystal display

A display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing the first substrate. The second substrate includes a first electrode and a second electrode spaced apart from each other. A cholesteric liquid crystal having a pitch shorter than a wavelength of a visible ray and a rotation axis substantially perpendicular to the first and second substrates is disposed between the first and second substrates. The display panel displays a grayscale image in response to an electric field generated between the first and second electrodes. A polymer is added to the cholesteric liquid crystal, and a concentration of the polymer is controlled by exposing the polymer to a light. The concentration of the polymer in an area adjacent to the first substrate may be higher than the concentration of the polymer in an area adjacent to the second substrate.

Display panel and method of manufacturing the same

A display apparatus includes a display panel and an optical member. The display panel includes a plurality of a pixel and displays a 2D image. The optical member includes a plurality of a lens, each having a plurality of a focal point and configured such that at least two pixels of the display panel correspond to one 3D pixel. The optical member divides the 2D image into left and right-eye images by using the lenses of the optical member.
