Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A discontinuous reception (DRX) periodicity may be configured to enable monitoring of a reference signal (RS) for RLM procedures. For example, a transmitting device may configure a DRX periodicity for an RS, where the configured DRX periodicity may include a periodicity of discrete transmissions of the RS or a periodicity of a transmission window in which the RS is located. Accordingly, a receiving device may identify the DRX periodicity and monitor radio link quality using the RS based on the DRX periodicity. In some examples, the RS may be transmitted independent of control channel transmissions, and the transmitting device may configure one or more control resource sets for the RS.

Radio link monitoring without always-on reference signals

Aspects relate to activation of a cell (e.g., an SCell) based on measurements made by a user equipment (UE) when the cell is not activated with respect to (e.g., as a secondary cell for) the UE (e.g., the cell is deemed by the network as an unknown cell for that UE). In this case, when the network requests the UE to conduct measurements with respect to that cell (e.g., in conjunction with activation of the cell), the UE may report information based on the measurements the UE conducted when the cell was not activated with respect to that UE.

Cell activation procedures

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for slot aggregation in new radio (NR) systems. A method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving radio resource control (RRC) signaling providing a semi-static configuration for transmission and/or reception of a repeated transport block (TB) and/or a different TB in each of a plurality of aggregated slots. The UE transmits or receives the TBs in the plurality of aggregated slots based on the semi-static configuration. Another method is provided in which the UE transmits and/or receives a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) in each of a plurality of aggregated slots, each DMRS associated with a repeated TB or a different TB in the slot. The UE determines, based on received signaling, whether the DMRS use a same precoder or a different precoder and modulates and/or demodulates the TBs in the plurality of aggregated slots based on the determination.

Signaling for slot aggregation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described, in which a communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), a network entity) may perform carrier aggregation, and cross-carrier scheduling provides that a first carrier may provide scheduling information for one or more other carriers, in which the one or more other carriers may have different discontinuous reception (DRX) configurations than the first carrier. One or more DRX-related timers of different DRX groups may be started or restarted based on a control information reception on the first carrier, or on a different carrier of a different DRX group. Additionally, or alternatively, control information transmissions on the first carrier may be provided based on one or more DRX-related timers that are associated with the first carrier, or that are associated with a carrier of another DRX group than the DRX group of the first carrier, or any combinations thereof.

Cross-carrier scheduling techniques for multiple discontinuous reception groups

Bandwidth part (BWP) switching may benefit a wireless communications system. Such BWP switching may include indication of one or more timing parameters used for time domain resource allocation. For example, the timing parameters may be indicated based on an index to a look-up table (e.g., a bit field in a control transmission). In some cases, one or more tables may be configured for a given BWP, and different tables may contain a different number of rows. The size of the bit field indexing the table may in turn depend on the number of rows. When switching from a first BWP to a second BWP, the size of the bit field may be based on the table of the first BWP, but the bit field may index the table of the second BWP. Techniques supporting improved timing parameter management during BWP switching are discussed herein.

Timing parameter management for bandwidth part switching

A method and apparatus for downlink and uplink control management of component carriers during carrier aggregation in a new radio wireless communication system is disclosed. For example, the method and apparatus include receiving, at a user equipment (UE), a slot format indicator in at least one slot of at least one component carrier of a plurality of component carriers from a network entity, where the at least one component carrier includes a group common Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH), the slot format indicator within the group common PDCCH indicating at least slot structure information for one or more other component carriers from the plurality of component carriers; and communicating, with the network entity, using the at least slot structure information for the one more other component carriers.

Carrier aggregation under different subframe structures in new radio

Apparatus, methods, and computer program products for DL power allocation in inter-band CA with carriers with no SSB transmissions are provided. An example method may include receiving, from a second network node, SSB transmit power information for at least one carrier of a set of carriers, where the set of carriers may be associated with inter-band carrier aggregation, and where the SSB transmit power information may be indicative of an SSB transmit power or an SSB transmit power offset. The example method may further include determining a set of CSI-RS EPREs based on the SSB transmit power information for the at least one carrier, where the set of CSI-RS EPREs corresponds to a CSI-RS transmission in a first carrier of the set of carriers, where the first carrier is configured without SSB transmission.

DL power allocation in inter-band CA including carriers without SSB

Wireless communications systems and methods related to downlink (DL) control channel communications are provided. A wireless communication device identifies a search space set including a plurality of PDCCH candidate search spaces for a downlink control channel. The wireless communication device determines that a first resource associated with a first PDCCH candidate search space of the plurality of PDCCH candidate search spaces overlaps with a preconfigured resource. The wireless communication device monitors for a downlink control message over the downlink control channel by excluding monitoring in at least the first PDCCH candidate search space based on the determining.

Physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring with overlapping resources

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may perform a random access (RACH) procedure based on a selected synchronization signal block (SSB). During this RACH procedure, a base station may transmit physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) messages for UE RACH message handling. To receive PDCCH signaling for RACH Messages 2, 3, or 4 (Msg 2/3/4), the UE may identify a set of time resources used by the base station for transmitting SSBs that are not quasi-co-located (QCL) with the selected SSB. The UE may identify a Msg 2/3/4 search space that does not overlap with this identified set of resources, and may monitor this identified search space. The search space may correspond to a modified remaining minimum system information (RMSI) search space indicated by the base station, or a valid RMSI search space not indicated by the base station.

Search space configurations for random access messaging

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may monitor a configured set of control channel elements (CCEs) for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) decoding for a scheduled cell of a set of scheduled cells, wherein the configured set of CCEs is on a per scheduled cell basis or a per carrier indicator field value basis. The UE may decode downlink control information (DCI) in one or more CCEs of the monitored configured set of CCEs. Numerous other aspects are described.

Downlink control channel monitoring

Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for providing improved power efficiency during DRX wake-up are disclosed. An example method of wireless communication at a UE includes receiving a WUS from a base station while performing a DRX cycle, the WUS indicating data for transmission to the UE. The example method also includes at least one receiving a downlink reference signal or transmitting an uplink reference signal based on the WUS and prior to reception of the data, the uplink reference signal transmitted or the downlink reference signal received during an on-duration of the DRX cycle and in response to receiving the WUS. The example method also includes sending a CSI report to the base station based on the WUS and prior to the receiving of the data. The example method also includes receiving the data following the respective receiving or transmitting of the downlink reference signal or uplink reference signal.

Methods and apparatus to facilitate wake-up signaling during discontinuous reception

Systems, methods, and devices for secondary cell activation using temporary reference signals are provided. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE), includes receiving, from a base station (BS) via a first cell, an activation command to activate a second cell different from the first cell, and receiving, from the BS via the second cell during an activation period, a first reference signal different from a synchronization signal block (SSB). The method further includes performing a measurement of the first reference signal, and operating in the second cell based on the measurement. In some aspects, using reference signals different from SSBs may reduce the delay associated with activating the secondary cell.

Secondary cell activation using temporary reference signals

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, while in dual connectivity with a carrier of a second cell group, a first grant for a first communication on a carrier of a first cell group. The UE may determine an allocated power for the first cell group by a specified time offset before a start of second cell group transmissions. The UE may receive a second grant, after the first grant, for a second communication on the first cell group. The UE may transmit the first communication with a first transmit power. The UE may transmit the second communication with a second transmit power that is based on the allocated power and the first transmit power and/or a maximum transmit power for the first cell group. Numerous other aspects are described.

Dual connectivity power control

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method may include a user equipment (UE) identifying a priority scheme for a set of signals including a first set of synchronization signal block (SSB) signals associated with a first frequency range, a second set of SSB signals associated with a second frequency range, and a paging signal associated with the first frequency range. The UE may then monitor, via a narrowband processor of the UE and based on the priority scheme, a set of time resources for one or more of the first set of SSB signals, the second set of SSB signals, or the paging signal. The narrowband processor may be configured to process signals received via the first frequency range and the second frequency range.

Techniques for measuring multiple signal types using a single narrowband processor

Different sets of downlink control information (DCI) fields may be configured for DCI that includes an indication to trigger bandwidth part switching at a user equipment (UE). For example, a UE may receive DCI that triggers the UE to switch operation from a first bandwidth part to a second bandwidth part. The UE may also identify a set of transformable DCI fields and a set of non-transformable DCI fields within the DCI. The UE may then determine updated content of the DCI for application to the second bandwidth part based on whether DCI fields are included in the set of transformable or the set of non-transformable fields. In some cases, the UE may identify a null assignment in the received DCI and may switch its operation from the first bandwidth part to the second bandwidth part based on the null assignment.
