A battery pack includes a pouch, an electrode assembly in the pouch, an electrode lead, the electrode lead being electrically coupled to the electrode assembly and extending from a sealing portion of the pouch, the sealing portion having a first thickness in a first region corresponding to the electrode lead and a second thickness in a second region adjacent to the electrode lead, the second thickness being less than the first thickness, and a protecting circuit module, the protecting circuit module including a substrate, a temperature control portion, and a connecting tab, the substrate having a first surface mounted on the first region, the first surface of the substrate being spaced apart from the second region, the connecting tab coupling the temperature control portion to the substrate, the connecting tab being configured such that a first surface of the temperature control portion contacts the second region of the sealing portion.

Battery pack

A battery pack includes a plurality of battery units, a protective circuit module on each of the plurality of battery units and that is electrically connected to each of the plurality of battery units, and an upper cover on the protective circuit module. Each of the battery units includes a bare cell including a can, an electrode assembly in the can, and a cap plate that seals an opening of the can, and a holder between the bare cell and the protective circuit module. The bare cells are located side by side along a first direction such that each cap plate is exposed along the same direction. One of the holder and the upper cover includes a protrusion that protrudes in a second direction, and another one of the holder and the upper cover includes a hole combined with the protrusion.

A battery pack includes a plurality of unit cells; a protective circuit module on the plurality of unit cells and coupled to the unit cells, and an upper cover on the protective circuit module and including openings defined in its sides. Each of the unit cells includes a can, an electrode assembly accommodated in the can, a cap plate coupled to the can, and a holder between the unit cell and the protective circuit module and including protrusions coupled to the openings of the upper cover. The unit cells are oriented side by side along a first direction such that the cap plates are exposed along the same direction, and the protective circuit module includes grooves defined in its sides and corresponding to the protrusions of the holder.

A lead tap that includes an insulation cover including a boss unit, which protrudes from a surface of the insulation cover and includes an electrical insulating material; and a thermal cut-off device assembly including: a thermal cut-off device; a first lead and a second lead that are coupled to the thermal cut-off device; and a hole through which a portion of the boss unit of the insulation cover protrudes. Here, the boss unit of the insulation cover includes an edge unit that is larger than an opening of the hole of the thermal cut-off device assembly to secure the insulation cover to the thermal cut-off device assembly.

Lead tap, battery pack having the lead tap and method of manufacturing the lead tap

A battery pack includes a plurality of battery units that are side by side along a first direction, a connection member that connects the battery units in series, in parallel, or in series and parallel, the connection member being adjacent to one surface of each battery unit of the plurality of battery units, an upper cap on and accommodating the connection member, upper portions of all of the battery units being inserted into the upper cap, a lower cap that is spaced apart from the upper cap by a predetermined gap, lower portions of all of the battery units being inserted into the lower cap, and a label that at least partially surrounds the battery units exposed between the upper cap and the lower cap. The upper cap and the lower cap fix an arrangement of the battery units.

A battery cell assembly and a method of manufacturing the same. The battery cell assembly includes a plurality of battery cells including anode terminals and cathode terminals, a plurality of lead tabs disposed on at least one of the anode terminal and the cathode terminal of each battery cell, wherein a groove is formed in each lead tab, and a lead plate disposed on top portions of the plurality of lead tabs, the lead plate including a connector contacting the plurality of lead tabs and a through hole formed in a position corresponding to the groove of the lead tab.

Battery cell assembly, method of manufacturing the same using a jig assembly

A lead plate that electrically connects a plurality of battery cells. The lead plate includes a first welding unit; a second welding unit separately disposed from the first welding unit by a slit between the first and second welding units; and a by-pass unit, an end of which is connected to the first welding unit and the other end of which is connected to the second welding unit, wherein the end of the by-pass unit is disposed on an opposite side of the slit based on the first welding unit, and the other end of the by-pass unit is disposed on an opposite side of the slit based on the second welding unit.
