A method for manufacturing a negative electrode, including the steps of preparing a negative electrode slurry including low-expansion natural graphite, a binder polymer, a conductive material and a dispersion medium; applying the negative electrode slurry to at least one surface of a negative electrode current collector, drying the coated negative electrode slurry, to form a preliminary negative electrode having a preliminary negative electrode active material layer; and pressing the preliminary negative electrode to obtain the negative electrode having a finished negative electrode active material layer. A difference between the specific surface area of the preliminary negative electrode active material layer before pressing and that of the finished negative electrode active material layer after pressing is 0.5 m/g to 1.0 m/g. A negative electrode obtained by the method and a secondary battery including the negative electrode are also disclosed.

Method for manufacturing negative electrode, negative electrode obtained therefrom and secondary battery including the same

A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery including a negative electrode active material layer. The negative electrode active material layer is formed by steps of coating a negative electrode mixture slurry including spheroidized natural graphite particles as a negative electrode active material on at least one surface of a negative electrode current collector, followed by drying and pressing the negative electrode mixture slurry on the at least one surface of the negative electrode current collector. The spheroidized natural graphite particles include a plurality of pores. The negative electrode active material layer has a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area of the negative electrode active material layer after the pressing is larger than a BET specific surface area of the negative electrode active material layer before pressing. A difference in the BET specific surface area before and after pressing ranges from 0.9 m/g to 1.2 m/g.

Negative electrode for lithium secondary battery and lithium secondary battery comprising the same

In the case in which a lithium metal is used in order to increase the capacity of a lithium secondary battery, reversibility of charging and discharging is reduced due to dendrite, etc. A lithium metal having LiF deposited thereon exhibits high stability, whereby reversibility of charging and discharging is increased. In addition, in the case in which LiF is deposited, the lithium metal, which is a negative electrode material, is not consumed, and the shape of a lithium metal electrode is not greatly changed.

A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery using lithium metal for the negative electrode and a method for manufacturing the same. The method includes forming a protective layer for dendrite prevention of the negative electrode. The method for manufacturing a negative electrode may be achieved by a process including coating a slurry containing fluorocarbon and/or fluorinated metal dispersed in a solvent onto a lithium metal layer and drying the slurry.
