Disclosed are a radical scavenger, a method for preparing same, and a membrane-electrode assembly containing same, wherein the radical scavenger can maintain the performance of a fuel cell for a long time and enhance the lifespan thereof since the elution of metal ions derived from radical scavenging particles during fuel cell operation can be continuously prevented for a long time. The radical scavenger of the present invention comprises: radical scavenging particles; and a porous protective film on the surface of the radical scavenging particles, wherein the porous protective film comprises at least one material of high oxidative stability selected from the group consisting of silica, carbon nitride, heteroatom-doped graphene, a porphyrin-based compound, a phenazine-based compound, and derivatives thereof.

Radical scavenger, method for preparing same, and membrane-electrode assembly containing same

Disclosed are an electrode for secondary batteries containing a high-density carbon defect structure and a method of producing the same. The electrode can prevent deterioration of battery performance due to dendrite formation by inhibiting self-diffusion and aggregation of metal nuclei, and can exhibit an unprecedentedly high number of charge/discharge cycles and excellent energy efficiency by uniformly electrodepositing metal ions on the surface of the electrode. When the method of producing a carbon electrode for a secondary battery is used, an electrode containing a high-density carbon defect structure can be produced, and thus a battery with higher efficiency and a longer lifespan can be produced. The secondary battery comprising the electrode is useful for fields related to medium/large-scale energy storage technology, in particular, for mobile devices, batteries, and renewable-energy power generation systems.

The present invention relates to a method of preparing a high-purity electrolyte solution for a vanadium redox flow battery using a catalytic reaction, and more specifically, to a method of preparing a high-purity electrolyte solution having a vanadium oxidation state of +3 to +5 from a mixture solution containing a vanadium precursor, a reducing agent, and an acidic solution, by using a catalyst. By using a catalyst and a reducing agent that does not leave impurities such as Zn, which are generated when preparing electrolyte solutions using an existing metal reducing agent, the high-purity electrolyte solution for a vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) according to the present invention eliminates the need for an additional electrolysis process; does not form toxic substances during a reaction process, and thus is environmentally friendly; and is electrochemically desirable under milder process conditions than that of an existing process. In addition, the VRFB comprising the electrolyte solution prepared according to the present invention may be used to expand the utility of new renewable energy through price reduction of large-capacity energy storage devices.
