A braking control system for a vehicle is provided. The system includes a motor providing rotational force to wheels of the vehicle and a first battery storing electric energy for driving the motor. An inverter is connected to the first battery via a DC link terminal and performs a bidirectional power conversion between the DC link terminal and the motor. A DC converter is connected to the DC link terminal to down-convert a voltage of the DC link terminal and output the down-converted voltage. A second battery is supplied with the voltage converted by the DC converter and has a voltage lower than that of the first battery. A controller operates the inverter and the DC converter to charge regenerative braking energy generated from the motor during braking of the vehicle in the first battery and the second battery.

An energy storage system for a vehicle is provided. The system includes a plurality of energy storage devices that are arranged to provide output power to a vehicle and are connected in parallel with each other. A plurality of sub-relays are connected to the plurality of energy storage devices, respectively. A controller then measures the degrees of deterioration of the respective energy storage devices and selectively opens or closes the sub-relays based on the amount of output power required for a vehicle and the measured degrees of deterioration such that a sub-relay connected to an energy storage device having a low degree of deterioration is closed first.

A system for charging a vehicle battery includes a relay configured to establish/interrupt electrical connection between the vehicle battery and a vehicle system supplied with power from the vehicle battery, and a controller. The controller is configured to monitor a voltage of the battery, control the relay to interrupt the electrical connection when a voltage of the battery is less than or equal to a first predetermined reference value, and control the relay to establish the electrical connection when a predetermined condition is satisfied while the relay is electrically disconnected. A circuit for protecting a battery for an electric vehicle includes a high voltage battery configured to output a DC voltage, an inverter configured to selectively receive the DC voltage from the high voltage battery and invert the DC voltage into an AC voltage when the inverter receives the DC voltage, a relay disposed between the high voltage battery and the inverter and configured to selectively block the DC voltage from the high voltage battery to the inverter, and a battery management system including a microchip configured to output a main relay control signal for controlling the relay.
