A liquid crystal display includes: first and second gate lines disposed on the first substrate and which respectively transmit first and second gate signals; first, second and third data lines disposed on the first substrate; a first switching element connected to the first gate line and the first data line; a second switching element connected to the first gate line and the second data line; a third switching element connected to the second gate line and the second data line; a fourth switching element connected to the second gate line and the third data line; first and second pixel electrodes respectively connected to the first and second switching and which form a first liquid crystal capacitor; and third and fourth pixel electrodes respectively connected to the third and fourth switching elements and which form a second liquid crystal capacitor.

Liquid crystal display

The present invention relates to an image display device using a diffractive lens. An image display device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a display panel displaying an image, and a diffractive lens for the image of the display panel to be recognized as a two-dimensional (2D) image or a three-dimensional (3D) image, wherein the diffractive lens modifies a path of light by using an optical principle of a Fresnel zone plate.

A three-dimensional display device comprises a flat display panel and an image-converting sheet disposed on or above the display panel. The display panel comprises a matrix of unit display cells arranged as rows and columns and where the cells are spaced apart to have respective row and column direction pitches. The image-converting sheet comprises a plurality of inclined lenticular lenses where the inclination is set according to the row and column direction pitches so as to reduce perception of Moir&#xe9; patterns when stereo-scopic images are projected through the image-converting sheet to an observer viewing the display panel as an upright panel having respectively different left and right stereo-scopic image projections.

Three-dimensional display device

A liquid crystal lens unit is provided for use in an autostereoscopic 3D image display. Light passing through the liquid crystal lens unit is refracted by a liquid crystal layer arranged by an electric field. The voltage levels applied to the to the liquid crystal layer are periodically changed thereby periodically oscillating the position of the focus profile of the liquid crystal lens unit. As a result, moir&#xe9; patterns are removed and display quality is improved.

Three dimensional image display

A pixel electrode and a direction control electrode capacitively coupled to the pixel electrode are provided in a pixel. A pixel thin film transistor is connected to a gate line, a data line, and the pixel electrode. A direction control electrode thin film transistor is connected to a previous gate line, a previous data lines or a next data line, and the direction control electrode. The gate lines are supplied with scanning signals, and each scanning signal includes first and second pulses in a frame. The first pulse of a scanning signal is synchronized with the second pulse of a previous scanning signal.

An array substrate includes a first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode. The first pixel electrode includes first branch electrode portions and second branch electrode portions. The first branch electrode portions are disposed in a first area of a unit pixel area and are substantially parallel to a first side of the unit pixel area. The second branch electrode portions are disposed in a second area of the unit pixel area and are substantially parallel to a second side of the unit pixel area. The second pixel electrode includes third branch electrode portions disposed between the first branch electrode portions and fourth branch electrode portions disposed between the second branch electrode portions.

Array substrate and display device having the same

A liquid crystal display includes: a first substrate and a second substrate disposed opposite the first substrate; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates and including liquid crystal molecules; a gate line which transmits a gate signal; first and second data lines which respectively transmit first and second data voltages, the first and second data voltages having opposite polarities; a first switching element connected to the gate line and the first data line; a second switching element connected to the gate line and the second data line; a first subpixel electrode connected to the first switching element; and a second subpixel electrode connected to the second switching element. The first and second subpixel electrodes overlap portions of the first and second data lines. The first and second subpixel electrodes include first and second branches, respectively, which are alternately arranged between the first and second data lines.

In a display apparatus having a plurality of pixel parts, each pixel part receives a data signal in response to a present gate signal and charges first and second pixel voltages having the same voltage level. A plurality of voltage controllers includes a level-down part to lower a voltage level of the second pixel voltage using a previous pixel voltage charged in a previous frame in response to a next gate signal and a level-up part to receive the lowered second pixel voltage in response to the next gate signal to boost up a voltage level of the first pixel voltage.

Display apparatus and method of driving the same

A liquid crystal display having enhanced transmittance in which the pixel electrode includes a micro-slit pattern and overlaps a control electrode on the insulation layer so that an effective voltage difference is formed between the pixel electrode and the control electrode to control the directional characteristics of the liquid crystal molecules.

A stereoscopic image display device includes a display panel and an optical lens assembly. The display panel includes a plurality of pixels. The display panel temporally divides M view images corresponding to M viewing spaces to display the temporally divided image on a display panel. 'M' is a natural number of no less than two. The optical lens assembly converts the view image displayed on the display panel into N stereoscopic images in which directions of the view images are different from each other to emit the converted view image toward a viewing space corresponding to the view image displayed on the display panel. 'N' is a natural number no less than two.
