A display panel includes a first display substrate, a second display substrate. The second display substrate includes a substrate, a color conversion layer including a first conversion part configured to absorb light of a first color and to emit light of a second color, a second conversion part configured to absorb the light of the first color and to emit light of a third color, and a third conversion part configured to transmit the light of the first color, and a filter layer including a first filter overlapping with the first conversion part and having the second color, a second filter overlapping with the second conversion part and having the third color, a third filter overlapping with the third conversion part and having the first color, and an auxiliary filter overlapping with the second conversion part and configured to absorb the light of the first color.

Display panel and display device including the same

A display device includes a display panel and a light source configured to provide a first color light to the display panel. The display panel includes a first display substrate (DS), a second DS facing the first DS, a column spacer disposed between the first and second DSs, and a liquid crystal layer filled between the first and second DSs. The first DS includes: a first base substrate (FBS); a thin film transistor (TFT) disposed on the FBS, the TFT including a gate electrode, first and second electrodes, and an activation layer; a first insulation layer (IL) covering the TFT and disposed on the FBS; and a second IL disposed on the first IL and including an opening exposing a first portion of the first IL overlapping the activation layer. The column spacer is disposed on the first portion to cover the activation layer and shield the first color light.

Display panel, method of manufacturing display panel, and display device including display panel

A display apparatus includes a plurality of pixel units and each pixel unit includes a substrate, a first electrode, a second electrode, an image display part and a protective layer. The first electrode is formed on the substrate. The second electrode is formed over the first electrode while interposing a first insulating layer therebetween to define a TSC (tunnel-shaped cavity) extending in a first direction between the first and second electrodes. The image display part is provided in the TSC to display an image according to an electric field generated by the first and second electrodes. The protective layer covers the second electrode and seals the TSC. The display apparatus having the above structure is manufactured by forming the first electrode, a sacrificial layer and the second electrode and forming the image display part by removing the sacrificial layer.

A display device includes a display panel, a color conversion layer disposed on the display panel, and an adhesion member between the display panel and the color conversion layer. The color conversion layer includes a first conversion part configured to one of transmit a first color light and absorb first color light to emit second color light, a second conversion part configured to absorb the first color light to emit third color light, and a third conversion part configured to absorb the first color light to emit fourth color light, the first conversion part, the second conversion part, and the third conversion part are sequentially arranged in a first direction, the adhesion member is disposed on a bottom surface and a side surface of the first conversion part and attached to the display panel, and an air layer is defined between the display panel and the second and third conversion parts.

A display device includes: a liquid crystal layer disposed between a first substrate and a second substrate; a color conversion layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and including a first light emitter configured to absorb first color light outputted from a light source and to emit second color light that is different from the first color light; a pixel electrode overlapping a display area; a first transistor connected to the pixel electrode; a driving circuit including a second transistor and providing a driving signal to the first transistor; a light blocking member disposed on the first substrate and overlapping the first transistor; and an polarizing layer disposed between the liquid crystal layer and the color conversion layer and including a wire grid pattern overlapping the display area and a reflection pattern extending from the wire grid pattern to overlap the non-display area.

A display device may include a substrate, a transistor, a pixel electrode, a roof layer, and a liquid crystal layer positioned in microcavities between the roof layer and the substrate. The roof layer may include a first roof portion and a second roof portion. The first roof portion may overlap the pixel electrode and may be directly connected to the second roof portion. The second roof portion may be positioned closer to the transistor than the first roof portion. A minimum distance between the substrate and the second roof portion may be less than a minimum distance between the substrate and the first roof portion.

The microcavity has one end positioned over the first black matrix, and another end opposite the first end and positioned over the second black matrix; the lower surface of the microcavity has first and second channels disposed therein, the first channel positioned over the first black matrix, and the second channel positioned over the second black matrix.

Nano crystal display device having patterned microcavity structure

A display device includes a substrate and pixels arranged on the substrate in a matrix form. The substrate includes a display area in which the pixels are arranged and a non-display area disposed adjacent to a side of the display area. Each pixel includes a cover layer that extends in a row direction that includes a sidewall portion connected to the substrate and a cover portion spaced apart from the substrate and connected to the sidewall portion to define a tunnel-shaped cavity on the substrate. A width of the sidewall portion between adjacent pixels is less than a width of the sidewall portion disposed at an outermost position, and the cover layer seals one side of the tunnel-shaped cavity in the pixels arranged in a first row and a last row.

A display device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a substrate; a thin film transistor disposed on the substrate; a microcavity having a first side, a second side opposite to the first side, and an upper surface extending between the first side and the second side; a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor and positioned along the first side; a common electrode extending along the second side; a roof layer covering the pixel electrode, the common electrode, and the upper surface of the microcavity; and a liquid crystal layer disposed in the microcavity.
