An array substrate of an LCD having: a gate line formed along a first direction; a data line formed along a second direction crossing the first direction; first and second pixel electrodes spaced apart from each other; a thin-film transistor includes a gate electrode connected to the gate line; a source electrode connected to the data line and partially overlapping the second pixel electrode; and a drain electrode connected to the first pixel electrode spaced apart from the second pixel electrode along the second direction. The source electrode or the gate electrode overlaps the second pixel electrode but the drain electrode does not overlap the second pixel electrode. Electrical coupling between the first and second pixel electrodes are avoided with such configuration.

A touch sensing substrate includes a substrate, a first light sensing element, a second light sensing element and a first bias line. A gate driving circuit and a display device having the same, a pull-up unit pulls up a current gate signal by using a first clock signal during a first period of one frame. A pull-up driver coupled to the pull-up unit receives a carry signal from one of the previous stages to turn on the pull-up unit. A pull-up unit receives a gate signal from one of the next stages, discharges the current gate signal to an off voltage level, and turns off the pull-up unit. A holder holds the current gate signal at the voltage level. An inverter turns on/off the holder in response to a first clock signal. A ripple preventer has a source and a gate coupled in common to an output terminal of the pull-up unit and a drain coupled to an input terminal of the inverter, and includes a ripple preventing diode for preventing a ripple from being applied to the inverter.

Thin film transistor array panel and manufacturing method thereof

A display substrate includes a pixel, an organic layer and a shorting pad structure. The pixel electrode is arranged at a display area of a base substrate, and the pixel electrode is electrically connected to a transistor connected to a gate line and data line. The organic layer is arranged at the base substrate, and the organic layer is arranged between the transistor and the pixel electrode. The shorting pad structure is disposed at a peripheral area of the display area, and the shorting pad structure includes a first pad electrode at a lower height, a second pad electrode at a higher height, and a first height compensation pattern interposed between the first and second pad electrodes. A contact hole is defined through the organic layer so that second pad electrode can be electrically connected there through to the first pad electrode.

Display substrate, method of manufacturing the display substrate and display apparatus having the display substrate

An LCD is manufactured to provide a wide viewing angle device and may reduce manufacturing costs according to an embodiment. The LCD includes a substrate, a gate line disposed on the substrate, a gate insulating layer disposed on the gate line, a semiconductor layer disposed on the gate insulating layer, a data line contacting the semiconductor layer, a drain electrode contacting the semiconductor layer and separated from the data line, a pixel electrode contacting the drain electrode, a passivation layer disposed on the pixel electrode, and a common electrode disposed on the passivation layer and including a branch electrode overlapping the pixel electrode. In one embodiment, the pixel electrode contacts an end portion of a thin film transistor. The LCD manufacturing process may be shortened and may save manufacturing costs because the LCD process need not make contact holes to connect the pixel electrode and the TFT.

A liquid crystal display includes opening patterns in the electrodes or protrusions on the electrodes. The opening patterns or the protrusions have a pattern which controls the direction of the liquid crystal molecules. Thus the quality of the LCD can be improved.
