A barrier panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate having block region and transmission region; a liquid crystal layer between the first and second substrates, the liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules aligned in a predetermined direction; a plurality of barrier electrodes in the block region and the transmission region of the first substrate; a common electrode on the second substrate to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal layer with the plurality of barrier electrodes; a diffraction unit in the plurality of barrier electrodes to diffract the light transmitting therethrough; and a polarization plate over the second substrate, wherein an optical axis direction of the polarization plate is parallel to the alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecule to transmit an image through an area where the electric field is not applied.

Barrier panel and 3D display device having thereof

A stereoscopic display device including a barrier panel is provided. When a viewing distance of a viewer is out of the proper range, the stereoscopic display device may shift the blocking regions and the transmitting regions of the barrier panel. The stereoscopic display device may maintain the ratio of channels located within a barrier blocking region and a barrier transmitting region of the barrier panel by using the channels disposed within trigger regions of the barrier panel. Thus, the stereoscopic display device may provide a stereoscopic image of good quality to the viewer located at a region being out of the proper range.

A stereoscopic display apparatus is disclosed. In the stereoscopic display apparatus, each unit pixel of a display panel includes a first transparent region. A barrier panel on the display panel may include second transparent regions overlapping with the first transparent region of each unit pixel. Thus, in the stereoscopic display apparatus, the transparency may be improved without the quality deterioration of a stereoscopic image.

Stereoscopic image display device

A stereoscopic display device having a barrier panel is provided. The barrier panel may include channel electrodes across an active area. Each of the channel electrodes may include an end portion connected to corresponding link line. Each of the channel electrodes may be connected to the link line same as (n+1)th channel electrode from the channel electrode. The barrier panel may further include connecting lines to connect between opposite end portions of the channel electrode which are connected to the same link line. Thus, in the stereoscopic display device, the number of the wires extending along an edge of the active area may be reduced.

A stereoscopic display device having a barrier panel is provided. The barrier panel may include lower channels between a lower barrier substrate and a channel insulating layer. The lower channels may be disposed between upper channels which is disposed on the channel insulating layer. Each of the lower channels may include a first sub-channel, a second sub-channel and a lower insulating layer. The lower insulating layer of each lower channel may cover an end region of the first sub-channel of adjacent lower channel. The second sub-channel of each lower channel may be connected to another end region of the first sub-channel. The second sub-channel may be extended along a side wall of the lower insulating layer. A stereoscopic display device includes a display panel; a barrier panel on the display panel, the barrier panel including channel electrodes across an active area, and link lines disposed outside of the active area; a front linear polarizer and a rear linear polarizer in direct contact with the barrier panel, respectively; and an image linear polarizer disposed on an outer surface of the display panel, wherein the number of the link lines in which each channel electrode crosses, is constant.

A stereoscopic display device having a barrier panel is provided. The barrier panel can include channel electrodes to form transmitting regions and blocking regions in an active area, and link lines to provide a signal to the channel electrodes. The stereoscopic display device can include a display driver driving a display panel; a barrier panel on the display panel, the barrier panel including channel electrodes across an active area, and link lines disposed outside the active area; and a barrier driver controlling the channel electrodes through the link lines, wherein the number of the link lines in which each channel electrode crosses, is constant. A liquid crystal barrier is configured to determine the viewing position of a viewer and selectively adjust based on the viewing position of the viewer. The liquid crystal barrier includes a barrier panel and a driving voltage supply unit. The barrier panel includes first electrodes, second electrodes, and liquid crystal layer. Opposite ends of the first electrodes are connected between 2n first channel lines, which form n channels, on a lower substrate. Opposite ends of the second electrodes are connected between 2n second channel lines, which form n channels, on an upper substrate. The liquid crystal layer is filled between the upper and lower substrates. The driving voltage supply unit is configured to supply at least one of a driving voltage and a common voltage to at least one of the first electrodes and the second electrodes.

The present invention is for a switchable 3-dimensional conversion device having a spacer stably formed at a predetermined height by imprinting, a manufacturing method thereof and a stereoscopic image display device using the same, the method includes: providing a first electrode on an inner surface of a first substrate; applying a resin material to the first electrode to a predetermined thickness; placing a mold structure which has a concave part formed with a predetermined depth thereon, on the resin material; stamping the resin material using the mold structure, in order to form a spacer pattern; dry etching the spacer pattern to form a spacer; forming a plurality of second electrodes, which are spaced from one another and have longitudinal axes in one direction, respectively, on a second substrate; and arranging the first and second substrates opposite to each other, bonding the same, and forming a liquid crystal layer between the first and second substrates.
