The present disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system to be provided for supporting a higher data transfer rate beyond a 4G communication system such as LTE. According to the present disclosure, there is provided a method for supporting repetitive transmission of uplink data by a base station in a mobile communication system operating in a time division duplex (TDD) based cell including at least one subframe for uplink transmission and at least one subframe for downlink transmission comprising repeatedly transmitting uplink data scheduling information in a downlink subframe where an uplink hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process is defined and repeatedly receiving uplink data in uplink subframes which start from an uplink subframe according to an HARQ transmission timing of an HARQ process defined in a downlink subframe where the repetitive transmitting of the uplink data scheduling information is complete.

Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for operating multi-band and multi-cell. An Enhanced Node B (eNB) transmits a synchronization channel and a broadcasting channel for narrow-band user equipments (UEs) through a first band narrower than a system band, the first band being located in a center band of the system band, and transmits a control channel for scheduling a data channel for a first narrow-band UE which is one of the narrow-band UEs through a second band equal to or wider than the first band, the second band not overlapping the first band within the system band. The first band is designed to be matched to a band where the synchronization channel and the broadcasting channel of a host cell using an entire system band are transmitted.

Method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving an uplink pilot used for channel estimation and measurement of an uplink in an FDMA system. Pilot symbols are transmitted with different frequency mapping patterns in first and second pilot symbol intervals of one time slot interval including data symbol intervals and the inconsecutive first and second pilot symbol intervals which have a shorter length than the data symbol intervals. As a result, interpolation of a frequency domain during channel estimation is not necessary, and can correctly obtain channel-estimated values of a frequency at which data is transmitted, in a fast time-varying channel environment.
