One embodiment is method that receives, at a computer, a request to manage a printing device located behind a firewall that blocks the request. The request is executed with an agent authorized to communicate through the firewall and with the computer and the printing device.

Managing a printing device behind a firewall

A request to print a file at a printer is received at a first computer system over a public network. Responsive to receiving the request, an indication of the request is exposed to the printer to enable fulfillment, by the printer, of the request to print the file.
