A method to produce hydrazide from triacylglycerol, the method includes steps of mixing vegetable oil with an organic solvent in a reactor forming a mixture, adding hydrazinemonohydrate into the mixture, stirring the mixture, adding catalyst, stirring the mixture to form hydrazide and separating the hydrazide from the mixture.

Accordingly, the present invention provides a process for preparing polyglycerol from crude glycerol, wherein the crude glycerol having a glycerol content from about 60 to about 90%, soap content from about 10 to about 15% and methanol content from about 5 to about 20%, the process includes the steps of (a) heating the crude glycerol that contains soap to an elevated temperature for a certain reaction time, (b) acidifying the crude polyglycerol with mineral acid at a specific temperature and (c) centrifuging the acidified crude product obtained from step (b) at specific temperature for a certain duration of time.

The present invention relates to a process for accelerated preparation of polyglycerol from crude glycerol using microwave irradiation as the heat element in the presence of soap as the catalyst. The process includes the steps of (a) heating the crude glycerol that contain soap to an elevated temperature for a certain reaction time by using a microwave technology, (b) acidifying the crude polyglycerol with mineral acid at a specific temperature and centrifuging acidified crude product obtained from step (b) at a specific temperature for a certain duration of time.

The present invention relates to a process for obtaining polyols from used frying oils as the starting ingredient and converting the polyols to polyurethane products. The process comprises few steps such as epoxidation process by reacting used frying oil with an acid, reacting the epoxidized used frying oil with a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol in the presence of a catalyst to form a polyols, mixing the polyols with an additive or additives and a blowing agent or blowing agents and mixing the blended polyol with an isocyanate to form a polyurethane product.

A process for producing oleochemical polyols comprises the steps of epoxidizing unsaturated oil using an organic acid together with oxygenated water or a per-acid to obtain epoxidized oil; washing the epoxidized oil with salt water to remove unused organic acid together with oxygenated water or a per-acid; neutralizing acidic condition of the washed epoxidized oil with a base; washing the neutralized epoxidized oil with a salt solution until the pH of the neutralized epoxidized oil reaching 6.5 to 7.5 to removed the base residue; drying the washed neutralized epoxidized oil under vacuum; and reacting the washed neutralized dried epoxidized oil with polyhydric alcohol in the presence of boron trifluoride-diethylether complex to produce the oleochemical polyols. The oleochemical polyols are then subjected to the same washing, neutralizing, washing and drying process as in preparing the washed neutralized dried epoxidized oil.

Process to produce polyols

A process for preparing palm-based polyol monomer includes reacting unsaturated fatty acids or its corresponding triglycerides with polyhydric alcohol. In particular, one example uses oleic acid with about 70% purity as the starting material for preparing the polyol monomer. Moreover, another example uses refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD) palm olein as an alternative to oleic acid as the starting material. The preparation of the polyol monomer involves the production of monoglyceride of unsaturated fatty acids, which was further epoxidized with peracid and finally ring opened with polyhydric alcohols. Such polyol monomer is used as a raw material for the production of various types of polyurethane products.

Process for the production of a polyol monomer

The present invention relates to an improved process for producing hydroxy fatty acids preferably dihydroxy or polyhydroxy acids from unsaturated fatty acids derived from natural oils and fats. The unsaturated fatty acids extracted from natural vegetable oils or animal fats preferably palm-based oleic acid is hydroxylated or oxidized by peracetic acid which formed in situ from a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and formic acid. The process for producing dihydroxy or polyhydroxy fatty acids according to the present invention involve less cost, easier to perform and reduced reaction time. In addition, the dihydroxy or polyhydroxy acids produced according to the present invention is non irritant and suitable to be used in production of cosmetic products.

Palm-based hydroxy fatty acid

This invention discloses a rapid method of production for fatty acid amide from fatty acid and urea. One example is the preparation of oleylamide from oleic acid and urea. The yields are high and oleylamide is selectively formed by judicious choice of catalyst. The production of fatty acid amide involves heating fatty acid and urea in a microwave oven with the use of Lewis acid catalyst. The product from the reaction is subjected to solvent extraction with chloroform and then followed by purification with n-hexane, ethanol and acetonitrile via recrystalization method. Such an oleylamide is preferred for application as a mould release agent, slip agent in plastic film production, water repellent and as a raw material for cosmetics production.
