Provided is a method and composition for the in-situ generation of synthetic sweet spots in tight-gas formations. The composition can include gas generating compounds, which upon activation, exothermically react to generate heat and gas. The method of using the composition includes injecting the composition into a tight-gas formation such that upon activation, the heat and gas are generated, resulting in the formation of fractures and microfractures within the formation.

A laser-jet apparatus for creating a penetration through a stress region adjacent to a wellbore includes an outer tool housing, the outer tool housing having a housing central bore. A focusing lens and a collimating lens are located within the lens case. The focusing lens is shaped to control the divergence of a laser beam and the collimating lens is shaped to fix the diameter of the laser beam. A jet fluid path is located in the annular passage, the jet fluid path shaped to merge jet fluid with the laser beam. The outer tool housing has a frusto-conical tip for directing the combined jet fluid and laser beam to the stress region.

Upon the generation of nitrogen gas and heat within the formation, microfractures are produced within the formation and the hydrostatic pressure within the reservoir is reduced to less than the reservoir fluid pressure, such that the rate of production of hydrocarbons from the formation is increased.

A method of increasing a stimulated reservoir volume in a wellbore in a gas-containing formation includes the steps of mixing an exothermic reaction component to achieve a pre-selected solution pH, the exothermic reaction component is operable to react at a wellbore temperature to generate a pressure pulse, mixing the exothermic reaction component with a viscous fluid component operable to fracture the gas-containing formation to create fractures, and a proppant component, the proppant component carried to the fractures by the viscous fluid, the proppant component comprises a proppant operable to hold open the fractures, to form a fracturing fluid, injecting the fracturing fluid into the wellbore in the gas-containing formation to create fractures, and generating the pressure pulse when the exothermic reaction component reaches the wellbore temperature, the pressure pulse operable to create auxiliary fractures, wherein the auxiliary fractures create a fracture network, the fracture network increases the stimulated reservoir volume.

A method of using a slurry-like fracturing fluid for hydraulic fracturing in an unconventional reservoir: injecting the slurry-like fracturing fluid into the unconventional reservoir, the slurry-like fracturing fluid comprises a particulate portion and a slurry water, the particulate portion comprises a solid acid component, injecting the slurry-like fracturing fluid is operable to generate a network of fractures, the slurry-like fracturing fluid is operable to reduce a reservoir temperature from a resting reservoir temperature, permitting the slurry-like fracturing fluid to cure into a permeable bed, allowing the reservoir temperature to return to the resting reservoir temperature to trigger the hydrolysis of the solid acid, hydrolyzing the solid acid to produce a liquid acid, and stimulating the network of fractures with the liquid acid to increase permeability of the permeable bed in the network of fractures in the unconventional reservoir, the increased permeability operable to create a sweet spot.
