Multiplex communication in a vehicle is provided by a multiplex bus using complementary signals, such as a CAN bus. Bus redundancy for providing a backup communication channel in the event of a fault on the primary multiplex bus is achieved using power line communications (e.g., sending data over the already available DC power line). The need for additional circuitry is minimized by preserving the same message protocols (e.g., framing), because only signal conversion, filtering, and switching functions are required in order to divert messages via the power line.

Vehicular multiplex bus system with backup powerline communication

A vehicle panel includes channels, wherein a first channel includes a first wire capable and a second channel includes a second wire and each wire is capable of carrying at least one of power or a vehicle data signal. The panel also includes a connection point connectable to at least one of a battery or a vehicle computing system, wherein selection of connection between the vehicle computing system or battery to a given connection point provided to a given one of the first or second channels dictates whether the channel carries the vehicle data signal or power. Also, the panel includes holes connecting to the first wire and at least two of the holes connecting to the second wire allowing a connection probe to be inserted into a respective hole to connect to a wire included in a channel to which the hole connects.

Adaptive integrated vehicle wire and signal transport system

An audio sample including speech and ambient sounds is transmitted to a vehicle computer. Recorded audio is received from the vehicle computer, the recorded audio including the audio sample broadcast by the vehicle computer and recorded by the vehicle computer and recognized speech from the recorded audio. The recognized speech and text of the speech are input to a machine learning program that outputs whether the recognized speech matches the text. When the output from the machine learning program indicates that the recognized speech does not match the text, the recognized speech and the text are included in a training dataset for the machine learning program.

Performing in-vehicle network diagnostics is provided. A cloud system receives wiring diagnostic data from a vehicle. The wiring diagnostic data includes information with respect to electrical operation of a plurality of segments of wiring of the vehicle. A machine-learning model of the cloud system is utilized to analyze the wiring diagnostic data. Responsive to the machine-learning model identifying an issue with the electrical operation based on the wiring diagnostic data, a response is sent from the cloud system to the vehicle, the response including one or more corrective actions to be performed by the vehicle to address the issue.

Automotive network vehicle bus diagnostics

A system that includes a computer and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is described. The computer may be programmed to receive, from the UAV, image data of a vehicle parking region; to process the data by identifying an actuation of a UAV indicator that occurs within a predetermined interval of a response of a vehicle in the region; and based on the identification, to determine a location of the vehicle.

Locating a vehicle using a drone

A system includes a processor configured to wirelessly broadcast a message obtained from a first originating vehicle BUS or controller, following a determination that the message was on a pre-approved list for broadcast and having encrypted the message utilizing a temporary random key generated for a message session. The system may include vehicle controllers, a gateway module, and vehicle BUSSES connecting the system controllers to the gateway module. The gateway module may include a memory storing a list of pre-approved message types and corresponding source types, and a processor configured to receive a message from one of the vehicle controllers over one of the vehicle BUSSES to determine if a message type and source type of the received message matches an element of the list.

Method and apparatus for secure wireless vehicle bus communication

A size of collected data to swap is identified, over vehicle-to-vehicle communication between first and second vehicles. A first segment of data of the size stored to the first vehicle is swapped with a second segment of data of the size stored to the second vehicle over the vehicle-to-vehicle communication between the first and second vehicles. The swapped data received from the second vehicle is sent from the first vehicle to a server.

In-vehicle haptic output

Systems and methods are disclosed for private vehicle-to-vehicle communication. An example disclosed vehicle communication system includes sensors to monitor a target vehicle, and a controller. The example controller generates a pseudo-anonymous identifier based on an identifier and an attribute of the target vehicle. Additionally, the controller broadcasts a first message including the pseudo-anonymous identifier, a random number, and a public key. In response to receiving a second message including the identifier and the random number, the example controller broadcasts a third message encrypted with a symmetric key included in the second message.

Private vehicle-to-vehicle communication

Embodiments include a vehicle power distribution unit comprising a plurality of connection paths respectively connecting a plurality of electric loads to a vehicle battery, and a power saving module configured to receive a key fob input indicating user selection of one of a plurality of vehicle power modes, and disconnect a subset of the plurality of electric loads from the vehicle battery based on specifications associated with the selected vehicle power mode. Other embodiments include a vehicle system comprising a power distribution unit including a plurality of connection paths respectively connecting a plurality of electric loads to a vehicle battery; a key fob configured to enable user selection of one of a plurality of vehicle power modes; and a power saving module configured to disconnect a subset of the plurality of electric loads from the vehicle battery based on specifications associated with the selected power mode.

System, method, and apparatus for preserving vehicle battery

A vehicle computing system includes a vehicle human-machine interface (HMI) and a vehicle processor coupled to the HMI and programmed to store trip information for multiple trips including consumed fuel cost for vehicle operation in response to a trip purpose input from the HMI. The trip purpose may be a business or personal purpose, for example. A fuel queuing model based on at least two fuel prices and corresponding fuel quantities may be used to determine the consumed fuel cost associated with fuel consumed from the vehicle fuel tank. Trip information, such as date, distance traveled, origin, destination, and consumed fuel cost may be output to a display, a wirelessly connected smartphone, and/or a remote server in response to a request from the HMI.
