A steering system for a vehicle includes: an operation member operable by a driver; a front-wheel steering device to which the operation member is connected to enable a front wheel to be steered by a steering amount; a rear-wheel steering device configured to steer a rear wheel independently of the front wheel; and a controller configured to control the front-wheel and rear-wheel steering devices. The controller executes a front-wheel steering force application control to apply, to the front wheel, a steering force including, as a component thereof, a driving support force that causes the vehicle to travel along a target travel line. The controller determines, in the front-wheel steering force application control, the driving support force based on a target operation amount that is the operation amount of the operation member to cause the vehicle to travel along the target travel line and a steering amount of the rear wheel.

A steering control apparatus comprises an environment sensor for detecting a condition around a vehicle; and a controller for controlling turning of a front wheel and turning of a rear wheel, wherein the controller is configured to: calculate a total steering angle which is a steering angle required for causing the vehicle to travel along a target path, based on at least a detection result of the environment sensor; turn the front wheel based on a front wheel target steering angle; and turn the rear wheel based on a rear wheel target steering angle that is a subtraction value obtained by subtracting the front wheel target steering angle from the total steering angle.

A steering control device that controls steering of a vehicle in which automatic driving or driving assistance is performed includes a reference steering angle calculation unit that calculates a reference steering angle of the vehicle based on a target steering angle and a vehicle speed of the vehicle, and a compensation unit that determines whether a deviation between the calculated reference steering angle and the target steering angle is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, and when determination is made that the deviation is equal to or greater than the predetermined value, compensates for the calculated reference steering angle such that the calculated reference steering angle follows the target steering angle.

An automatic tilting vehicle includes left and right wheels rotatably supported by carriers, a vehicle tilting device, and a control unit. The vehicle tilting device includes a swing member swinging about a swing axis, an actuator that swings the swing member, a pair of tie rods pivotally connected to the swing member and the carriers. The control unit controls the actuator so that the tilt angle of the vehicle conforms to a target tilt angle and determines that the vehicle tilting device is abnormal when a relationship between the swing angular velocity of the swing member and the tilt angular velocity of the vehicle deviates from an allowable range.
