A color image forming apparatus for forming images in a mono-chromatic and full-color mode on an image bearing member by an electrophotographic system controls a cleaning device to operate for a time period according to a specific weighting factor corresponding to whether the image forming apparatus is in the mono-chromatic or full-color mode. In this manner, excess operating time of the cleaning device is eliminated to thereby enable the image forming speed to be improved. The image bearing member is an intermediate transfer member.

If density control is executed during continuous printing, not only the throughput of the interrupted job decreases, but also the density difference between images output before and after the printing interruption may become visually conspicuous. In this invention, a command and a status are exchanged with an external device, and the density of the visible image formed by an image forming section is controlled in accordance with a predetermined command received. When the number of visible images formed by the forming section reaches the first predetermined number, a status instructing execution of density control is transmitted to the external device. When no density control is executed upon transmission of the status instructing execution of the density control and the number of visible images formed by the forming section reaches the second predetermined number, density control is executed regardless of the predetermined command.

The apparatus has a nonvolatile memory to store the number of revolutions of the photosensitive drum.

An image forming apparatus has a photosensitive drum on which toner images of different colors are formed and sequentially transferred in layers to an intermediate transfer drum. In the continuous color image formation, depending on whether to be the first page or after second page, for example, the control of the correcting system for color mis-registration is switched so that the mechanical effect on the apparatus caused by biasing and unbiasing actions of a transfer roller and an ICL roller toward the intermediate transfer drum in each condition can be suppressed to the minimum without penalties in throughput.

A recording apparatus preferably usable for desk-set type electronic calculator, computer, word processor, electronic typewriter or the like of the type having a platen detachably incorporated therein. The platen is operatively connected to an upper case. When it is to be removed from the apparatus, the case is first removed and the platen is then displaced away from the operative position by a turning movement in accordance with a removing movement of the case. Recording paper can be placed on the lower guide surface which is exposed to the outside. On completion of placing of the recording paper the case is closed together with the platen by way of the reverse steps until the platen assumes the operative position. To assure that the recording paper is stably held on the lower guide surface even after the platen is displaced away from the operative position, the base board is formed with an opposing pair of semispherical projections on the inner side walls. The platen may be raised up away from the operative position in the vertical direction instead of a turning movement. To inhibit the recording paper from becoming contaminated with ink, a contamination inhibitive plate is interposed between the platen and the printing belt or ring. It is preferable that the contamination inhibitive plate is raised up under the effect of resilient of coil springs at the same time when the platen is displaced away from the operative position.

An electronic component and a wiring pattern on a printed board are connected electrically by a sheet connector having a conducting layer formed on a surface of an insulating sheet. This provides a mounting assembly for an electronic component which can make simultaneous connection easily and accurately between electrodes of the electronic component, and between electrodes of the printed board, as well as connecting the electronic component and the printed board.
