A secondary battery charger system in which a chargeable power is calculated on the basis of a difference between a charging target voltage and a cell voltage using a charging control unit that controls a charger used to charge a secondary battery, the secondary battery charger system including a charging threshold voltage setting unit configured to set the charging target voltage to be lower than a charging limitation voltage which is an upper limitation of the cell voltage allowable in design. The charging control unit stops the charging if a predetermined charging stop condition is satisfied while the cell voltage exceeds the charging target voltage and is lower than the charging limitation voltage.

Secondary battery charging system with allowable voltage zone and method thereof

A battery charging system includes a battery, a load and a controller to control supply power to be supplied from an external power source to the battery and the load, in accordance with a request charging power and a request load power. The controller limits power supplied from the external power source to the battery to an allowable battery power, and distributes the supply power from the external power source between the battery and the load in a state holding limitation of limiting the supply power from the external power source to the allowable battery power when a request for the supply of power to the load is generated.

When warming-up of a battery is in progress (S), a battery charge state at the warming-up start time of the battery is set to a battery hold capacity SOC(S, S), and a charge power for the battery is controlled so that a battery charge state SOC is kept at SOC. When a present time is in a timer charge reservation time (S), the charge power for the battery is controlled so that SOC becomes a full charge state SOC(S). Even if SOC has a tendency to temporarily decrease due to a rapid increase of heater consumption power just after start of warming-up of the battery, by keeping SOC at SOC(SOC=SOC), SOC can reach a full charge state as intended during the timer charge reservation time. A proportion of charge using low-priced midnight power is increased to a maximum then running cost can be suppressed.

A charging control system is configured to calculate an internal resistance line indicating a relation between a value of a charging current and a value of a voltage of a battery, which voltage occurs when the charging current has flown into the battery, to obtain a maximum inputtable value point Scorresponding to a maximum inputtable power/current and a currently-inputted value point Scorresponding to a charging power/current currently inputted to the battery, these points existing on the calculated internal resistance line. The charging control system is also configured to calculate a point located between the maximum inputtable value point Sand the currently-inputted value point S, as a target point Scorresponding to a target charging power/current point, and to set, based on the calculated target point S, a charging power/current for charging the battery.

A voltage detection device that is connected to a DC circuit to which a DC voltage is applied and that detects the DC voltage applied to the DC circuit includes a voltage conversion unit for outputting a first voltage that increases as the DC voltage increases and a second voltage that decreases as the DC voltage increases, an error detection unit for detecting an error for the first voltage and the second voltage based upon the first voltage and the second voltage when the DC voltage is, and a voltage calculation unit for correcting a difference between the first voltage and the second voltage based upon the error detected by the error detection unit and calculating the DC voltage based upon the corrected difference between the first voltage and the second voltage.
