An image capturing apparatus includes an image sensor unit including an image sensor board on which an image sensor is mounted, a first drive mechanism that drives the image sensor unit in a first direction orthogonal to an optical axis of the image sensor, a second drive mechanism that drives the unit in a second direction orthogonal to the optical axis and different from the first direction, and a first duct disposed on an opposite side of the board to a surface on which the sensor is mounted, in a state opposed to the board, to allow cooling air to pass therethrough. The first duct has an air suction port and an air discharge port. When viewed from the optical axis direction, the first drive mechanism, the second drive mechanism, the air suction port, and the air discharge port do not overlap around the image sensor.

Image capturing apparatus capable of quickly cooling image sensor

An imaging apparatus includes an apparatus main body including a lens mount to which a lens device is detachably attachable, and at least two protruding portions protruding further to a front side in a direction of an optical axis than a mount surface on which the lens mount is provided. The image capturing apparatus includes an image sensor, a circuit board disposed substantially parallel to the image sensor, and a cooling unit configured to cool at least one of the image sensor and the circuit board. The cooling unit includes a duct having an air flow passage crossing an optical axis of the image sensor, and a fan that causes air to flow in the air flow passage in the duct. An image sensor converts an optical image formed by an imaging optical system to video signals. A heat dissipation section discharges heat generated in an image sensor to the outside. The imaging optical system, the image sensor, the heat dissipation section, and a battery chamber are arranged on an extension line of an axis of the system in the mentioned order. The battery chamber has an upper surface tilted forward in a direction in which the image sensor is disposed with respect to the axis by a predetermined angle. A lens mount is provided on the apparatus body and can have a shooting lens removably attached thereto. A built-in microphone is arranged on a side of a surface of the apparatus body, different from any of a surface where an air outlet port for discharging air used for forced cooling is arranged, a surface where the lens mount is arranged, and a surface where the attachment portion is arranged.
