The present invention provides a substituted anilide derivative of formula (I): {wherein Z is a group of formula (II) or (III) (in these formulas, A is C-Calkylene, C-Calkenylene, etc., Ris H, halogen, &#x2014;C(R)&#x2550;NOR, (substituted) phenyl, (substituted) heterocyclic ring, -A-R, etc.; Ris H, C-Calkyl, etc.), Ris H, C-Calkyl, etc.; Ris H, F, fluoro C-Calkyl; Rf is F, fluoro C-Calkyl; 1 is 0 to 2; Y is halogen, (substituted) phenyl, (substituted) phenoxy, etc.; and m is 0 to 3}, an intermediate thereof, an agrohorticultural agent, and a method for the use thereof. The compound of the present invention exhibits, at a low dosage, high uptake and translocation from the root and an excellent insecticidal effect especially when applied to soil.

The compounds exhibit excellent insecticidal activity against insect pests resistant to existing pesticides even when applied in dosages lower than those of similar pesticides.
