A method of performing geometrical measurements of remote objects includes performing a laser sweep of a measurement object with a handheld sensor device including a distance measurement unit and an inertial measurement unit. The method includes activating the distance measurement unit to perform a plurality of distance measurements during the laser sweep, and activating the inertial measurement unit to perform an inertial measurement in association with each of the distance measurements. A processor is used to process the distance measurements with reference to the associated inertial measurements to determine a geometric characteristic of the measurement object.

To enhance depiction, a method for blending images of different resolutions in the scenegraph reduces abrupt changes as the mobile unit moves relative to the depicted geographic objects. Data structures for storage and run-time access of information regarding the geographic object data permit on-demand loading of the data based on the viewing frustum and allow the navigational system to dynamically load, on-demand, only those objects that are visible to the user.

Information exchange systems and methods ('IES') are described that allow users of portable devices to initiate exchanges of information with a simple gesture. Method and device for a detachable navigation system

A sensor array with a pulse echo radar system with which a carrier signal of a microwave transmitter oscillator is transmitted in the form of pulses with a specified pulse repetition frequency in a transmission window. This radar signal is reflected from a target object and the position of the target object is calculated in a mixer from the times of transmission of the pulse to the arrival of the reflected radiation. An array of several transmitter and receiver units with switches are constructed in which the stochastic pulse sequences of each transmission window in each receiver branch are known and the transmitter and receiver units are linked to one another so that in each of the receiver branches the stochastic pulse sequences of each transmission window are detected separately and thereby the cross echoes may also be analyzed.
