A method and arrangement for connecting an ad-hoc communication network () to a permanent communication network () via a half-duplex communication link (). The ad-hoc communication network is established between communication devices (-) and a gateway device () using a routing protocol that is run in the gateway device and in the communication devices. Relaying of data between the ad-hoc communication network and the permanent communication network is controlled by setting the following relaying operations into a pre-determined order of mutual priority: relaying data from the ad-hoc communication network to the permanent communication network and relaying data from the permanent communication network to the ad-hoc communication network. The pre-determined order of priority facilitates data transfer via the half-duplex communication link between the permanent communication network and the ad-hoc communication network that can be either a full-duplex network or a half-duplex network.

Arrangement and method for connecting an ad-hoc communication network to a permanent communication network via a half-duplex communication link

A method and arrangement for connecting an ad-hoc communication network () to a permanent communication network (), e.g. to a cellular mobile communication network. The ad-hoc communication network is established between communication devices (-) and a gateway device () using a routing protocol that is run in the gateway device and in the communication devices. A protocol address that is associated in a communication device with a protocol data unit is determined on the basis of a control action given by a user of the communication device. In a gateway device, the protocol data unit is relayed to the permanent communication network if the protocol data unit is provided with a pre-determined protocol address. The user of the communication device can determine with the aid of the control action whether he is communicating only inside the ad-hoc communication network or via the permanent communication network.

Method and arrangement for connecting an ad-hoc communication network to a permanent communication network

The invention relates a method and arrangement for presenting visual information responsive to an audio signal. A solution according to the invention comprises an audio detector () arranged to detect an arrival direction of the audio signal, a display device () arranged to generate visual information () indicating the arrival direction of the audio signal, and a position sensor () arranged to generate a position signal indicating a change of a rotational position of a display surface of the display device. The display device is arranged to update the visual information according to the position signal. The solution is able to generate a visual indicator that indicates a direction from which an audio signal having a limited temporal duration, e.g. a gunshot voice, has arrived with respect to a changing rotational position of the display surface.

Display apparatus

The invention relates to a method and arrangement for reducing power consumption of a radio communication device. In a solution according to the invention an audio signal is monitored () and the radio communication devise is activated to transmit () a radio signal containing information of the audio signal only when () the audio signal contains speech. The power consumption of the radio communication device can be reduced without a need for manual control actions that could limit the freedom of action of a person who is using of the radio communication device.

A self-contained breathing apparatus safety mask, a system and a method includes a radio frequency identification tag reader arranged to communication with a radio frequency tag so that the breathing apparatus can obtain an identification of the user for wireless radio group communication with breathing apparatuses of other users. The identifier contains information for establishing and changing the group communication parameters. The system also includes a remote speaker microphone in short range radio communication with the mask. The remote speaker microphone may be connected to private mobile system.
