In vehicular communication networks, reliable delivery of safety messages is crucial and any transmission collision is to be avoided. A method based on time division multiple access scheme is described. An extra layer is provided to manage and schedule transmission of safety messages. The extra, message broadcasting handling layer (MBH layer) is provided between safety applications and medium access control (MAC) layer. Safety messages generated and received from safety application is spooled in the MBH layer and scheduled by the MBH layer for delivery to the MAC layer for broadcasting. A device to implement the method is also described.

Method of managing single-hop and multi-hop broadcast in vehicular communication networks and device therefor

Methods, devices, and processor readable media for enabling a device operating within a wireless network to select an OBSS PD level that allows transmission of physical (PHY) layer protocol data units (PPDU) in minimum time and thereby enhancing the throughput of the network. An optimal OBSS PD level may be identified as the level that minimizes a linear combination of an estimated average contention time and an estimated average transmission time. The estimated contention time and estimated transmission time may be calculated based on data samples recorded at the given OBSS PD level. If insufficient data samples have been collected at the given OBSS PD level, then data samples from other OBSS PD levels may be used to estimate the average.

Method, device, and medium for spatial frequency reuse in wireless networks

Methods and devices for dynamic sensitivity control (DSC) in wireless networks are provided by adapting a clear channel assessment threshold (CCAT) on a frame-by-frame basis, based on a destination of a head-of-line (HoL) frame in a medium access control (MAC) layer transmission queue. Two different ways of protecting the communication range among devices in a basic serving set (BSS) are disclosed. In the first way, frames received from a node's BSS are differentiated, at the MAC layer, from frames received from an overlapping BSS (OBSS), and different CCATs are used for frames received from the node's BSS versus frames received from OBSS(s). In the second way, a lower bound on the CCAT value is defined based on the average received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of frames previously received from the node's BSS, and the CCAT is periodically reset to its minimum value.

Methods for dynamic sensitivity control in wireless networks

The disclosed systems, methods, and structures are directed to LoS MIMO communications that optimize spectral efficiency and include a precoding module to multiply an input transmit data vector with a precoding matrix to generate a precoded transmit data vector, a gain matrix calculation module to generate a gain matrix having optimal gain values that maximize the spectral efficiency, a transmit signal processing unit to convert the precoded transmit data vector into an analog signal, a receive signal processing unit to receive the analog signal and convert the analog signal into a receive data vector, an equalization module, a channel estimation module to estimate channel information to generate an estimated channel, and a singular value decomposition module to decompose the estimated channel matrix. The gain matrix calculation module calculates the optimal gain values of the gain matrix by maximizing an objective function encompassing the channel information provided by a fed-back diagonal matrix.

Method and system for improving the spectral efficiency of line-of-sight (LoS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems

In vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), vehicles communicate either with each other via vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication or with stationary road side infrastructure or road side units (RSUs) via vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, to exchange information generated by the mobile applications. Vehicular networks require a reliable and efficient one-hop broadcast service. A makeup strategy for vehicular networks, referred to as cooperative relay broadcasting (CRB), is described. Neighboring nodes rebroadcast the packet from a source node to increase the reliability of the broadcast service. The decision to perform CRB is taken proactively and based on the channel conditions between the relaying nodes and the target one-hop neighbors.
