This disclosure relates to membranes containing a polymer containing crown ether monomer units and a guest compound capable of binding thereto. This disclosure also relates to methods for making the membranes, and to methods for using the membranes for gas separation applications.

Membranes containing crown ether-containing polymers

The present disclosure is directed toward a method for storing carbon dioxide. The method for storing carbon dioxide comprises several steps. A dissolving fluid comprising water is injected into a salt formation to produce a brine and a salt cavern within the salt formation. The brine is then removed from the salt cavern. A sorbent is then placed within the salt cavern before carbon dioxide is injected into the salt cavern.

Method of enhancing carbon dioxide storage capacity in salt caverns

The present disclosure is directed toward a system and a method for storing gas. The system for storing gas comprises a salt formation, an overburden, an underburden, a salt cavern within the salt formation, a sorbent within the salt cavern, and a well traversing the surface that connects the surface with the salt cavern. Methods for absorption and desorption of carbon dioxide

Compositions, methods, and systems for treating a subterranean formation for carbon dioxide sequestration include introducing a ferrate(VI)-based hydraulic fracturing fluid into a subterranean formation. The ferrate(VI)-based hydraulic fracturing fluid comprises ferrate(VI) oxidizing agent having the formula MFeO, where M is an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal, and an aqueous carrier fluid. Reacting the ferrate(VI) oxidizing agent with a surface of the subterranean formation increases a pore volume of pores therein and interacting the ferrate(VI) oxidizing agent with carbon dioxide (CO) sequesters the COwith the ferrate(VI) oxidizing agent within the pores.

A method for subsurface sequestration of carbon dioxide includes placing into a subterranean zone an oxidizer having a redox potential of at least 0.5 volts. The subterranean zone has an average total organic content of at least three weight percent. Carbon dioxide is injected into the subterranean zone via one or a plurality of wells. A total volume of all fluids injected into the subterranean zone via the one or the plurality of wells includes, on average per well per month, at least sixty-five weight percent carbon dioxide and less than thirty weight percent water.

One of the negative geologic closures is selected for bottom-up storage of carbon dioxide based on the characterized dimensions and layers.

A composition of matter may include a cement precursor, a phosphazene oligomer and water. A method may include blending a phosphazene oligomer and a cement precursor to form a cement precursor mixture. The method may then include introducing water into the cement precursor mixture to form the cement slurry. A composition of matter may include a cured cement matrix having a polyphosphazene polymer distributed throughout the cement matrix. A method may include cementing a wellbore by introducing a cement slurry into a wellbore, where the cement slurry includes a phosphazene oligomer. The method then includes maintaining the cement slurry such that a cured cement sheath forms, the cement sheath having a polyphosphazene polymer.

In-situ polyphosphazene generation in cement for improved elastic properties

A method for subsurface sequestration of carbon includes injecting a treatment composition comprising a mineralization accelerant into a subterranean zone at least partially saturated with saline water. The mineralization accelerant is reactive with carbon dioxide to form bicarbonate. The method further includes injecting carbon in the form of carbon dioxide into the subterranean zone and sequestering at least a portion of the carbon in the subterranean zone by precipitation in the subterranean zone of a carbonate mineral formed from reaction of the bicarbonate with metal cations dissolved in the saline water. At least a portion of the bicarbonate is formed by reaction of the mineralization accelerant with the carbon dioxide.

Sequestration of carbon in saline aquifers

A drilling fluid comprises an aqueous solution; a clay-based component comprising layered silicate; and a viscosifier additive comprising poly(acrylamide-co-diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (poly(AAm-co-DMAC)) polymer. The polymer comprises a number average molecular weight of from 10,000 g/mol to 2,000,000 g/mol. The layered silicate and poly(AAm-co-DMAC) reacts to form a silicate-poly(AAm-co-DMAC) complex within the aqueous solution. A mass ratio of the poly(AAm-co-DMAC) to the layered silicate is 1 to 8.
