A method for supplying internal consumers in a domestic appliance from a low voltage supply network, for example a photovoltaic power station or wind power station, includes classifying the internal consumers commensurate with a stored energy requirement of each internal consumer and supplying the internal consumers with energy commensurate with the classification. This protects against low voltage and excessive electric loads and against partial interruption of a treatment program for items when the low voltage supply is interrupted due to a temporary overload. The energy supply of the internal consumers is switched off in stages depending on their energy requirement and on their classification, when the energy available from the low voltage supply network is insufficient for supplying all internal consumers, and is switched back on again in stages, when the energy available from the low voltage supply network is once again sufficient for supplying all internal consumers.

A domestic appliance, which may be a tumble dryer, includes a thermoelectric heat pump; at least one series of Peltier elements operationally associated with the heat pump and driven by a supply voltage for producing heat during appliance operation wherein the resistance of the Peltier elements increases with increasing temperature and wherein a threshold temperature for the Peltier elements is defined; and a heat flow path for dissipating heat produced by the Peltier elements wherein at a maximum temperature of the Peltier elements above a normal operating temperature and below the threshold temperature the power of the heat dissipated through the heat flow path is substantially equal to the electrical power drawn by the Peltier elements from the supply voltage.

In a method for determining a load and/or an unbalance of a laundry drum of a washing machine driven by an electric motor having a stator with at least one winding coupled to a power inverter controlled by a control unit, the laundry drum is accelerated to a predetermined rotational speed and then slowed down. During the slow-down, the motor operates in generator mode and an electric current flowing through the at least one winding and/or an electric intermediate circuit voltage is measured. The time dependence of the electric power supplied by the electric motor in generator mode is evaluated during a revolution of the laundry drum. The unbalance and/or the load are determined from the measured current values and/or the intermediate circuit voltage and from the determined electric power. A corresponding circuit arrangement and a washing machine with this circuit arrangement are also disclosed.

A method is provided for operating a converter circuit, in particular a pulse-width modulated frequency converter circuit having a DC voltage intermediate circuit, which controls two or more winding sections of a polyphase dynamo-electrical machine, in particular a three-phase asynchronous motor for a laundry appliance. The method determines one or more parameters of the dynamo-electrical machine, before a rotating field is produced in the dynamo-electrical machine by the converter circuit. The parameters can be used to deduce a variant of the dynamo-electrical machine, and to select open-loop and closed-loop control parameters which are associated with the variant. Likewise, the method allows possible machine faults to be determined by using the parameters. Likewise, a converter circuit and a laundry appliance perform the method and have a converter circuit for controlling a polyphase dynamo-electrical machine, which, in particular, drives a drum which is mounted in the laundry appliance such that it can rotate.

A central power supply device for an electric supply of a domestic appliance and an electronic control unit of the appliance is connected to an output side of an interference suppression filter. The aim is to integrate recurrent, standardized devices in such a way that components are not allocated functions that do not belong to their task domain. To achieve this, an automatically controlled network disconnection device is integrated, together with the interference suppression filter, into the phase conductor, or in addition into the neutral conductor. A power supply device for an electronic control logic circuit of the network disconnection device is connected to the input side of the network disconnection device and the control output of the control logic circuit is connected to the control input of the network disconnection device.
