A welded assembly includes a first sheet and a second sheet. The second sheet is disposed over a portion of the first sheet and defines an overlap portion between the first and second sheets. A weld fastening the second sheet to the first sheet in the overlap area connects the second sheet to the first sheet for distributing stress uniformly across a welded portion of the overlap area.

A heat shield provided with a gas turbine engine includes a heat shield body extending between a first heat shield end and a second heat shield end. The heat shield body has an exterior surface disposed proximate an inner surface of a first case and an interior surface disposed opposite the exterior surface. The interior surface defines a rib that extends towards a combustor vane support lock.

A bracket for attaching a gearbox to an engine casing has a first portion having a first array of openings for receiving attachments therethrough, the first portion having, on a backside thereof, a first rail for engaging a slot in the engine casing, and a second portion having a second array of openings for receiving attachments therethrough. A hookup for attaching to the gearbox attaches to and in between the first portion and the second portion for diminishing effects of radial rotation between the casing and the gearbox.
