Disclosed is a diurethane compound R(SO)(CH)OCONH&#x2014;R&#x2014;NHCOO(CH)(SO)Rproduced by a method allowing a diamine compound HNRNHto react with a chloroformate compound ClCOO(CH)(SO)Ror a method allowing a diisocyanate compound OCNRNCO to react with a hydroxyl-containing compound R(SO)(CH)OH. The diurethane compound is compounded with multivalent amine crosslinkable group-containing acrylic rubber together with a basic vulcanization accelerator to form an acrylic rubber composition. The acrylic rubber composition including the diurethane compound as a vulcanizing agent decreases a delay in the vulcanization rate due to prevention of scorching and also allows a vulcanized article to satisfy the compression set characteristics.

An aqueous dispersion is prepared by subjecting (meth)acrylate containing a polyfluoroalkyl group and a polymerizable monomer containing no fluorine atom to an emulsification treatment in the presence of a surfactant and a polypropyleneglycol-based compound having a molecular weight of 250 to 5,000, followed by copolymerization reaction in the presence of a polymerization initiator. The resulting aqueous dispersion, even if prepared from (meth)acrylate copolymer containing mixed perfluoroalkyl groups including perfluoroalkyl groups having 12 or more carbon atoms as polyfluoroalkyl groups, has a distinguished emulsion stability and thus can be effectively used as a water and oil repellent, etc.

Process for preparing aqueous dispersion

A water- and oil-repellent agent is produced by subjecting (a) a polyfluoroalkyl group-containing (meth)acrylate and (b) a fluorine atom-free polymerizable monomer to an emulsification treatment in the presence of (c) a polyethylene oxide adduct type, cationic surfactant, or both of the cationic surfactant and a polyethylene oxide adduct type, non-ionic surfactant, and (d) a glycol-based compound, followed by copolymerization reaction in the presence of a polymerization initiator, and admixing the resulting aqueous dispersion with (e) a blocked isocyanate, and gives a satisfactory water and oil repellency to not only synthetic fibers, but also natural fibers, and also has a distinguished washing durability.

Process for producing water- and oil-repellent agent

A polyfluoroalkyl alcohol, or a (meth)acrylic acid derivative thereof, represented by the following general formula:CF(CHCF)(CFCF)(CHCH)OR(R:H or (meth)acrylic acid group; n: 1-6; a: 1-4; b: 1-3; and c: 1-3). Polyfluoroalkyl alcohol (R: hydrogen atom) can be produced by reaction of fluoroalkyl iodide represented by the following general formula:CF(CHCF)(CFCF)(CHCH)Iwith N-methyl formamide, followed by hydrolysis in the presence of an acid catalyst, whereas polyfluoroalkyl alcohol (meth)acrylic acid derivative (R: (meth)acrylic acid group) can be produced by reaction of the polyfluoroalkyl alcohol with (meth)acrylic acid.

Fluorine-containing elastomer composition

The polymerization initiator-containing solution obtained by mixing a specific perfluorodicarboxylic acid fluoride (A) with CsF in an aprotic polar solvent with stirring to conduct reaction and thereby form a polymerization initiator (B) and then allowing the reaction solution to stand for not less than 72 hours at a temperature of 0 to 30&deg; C. A polymerization initiator-containing solution comprises a specific polymerization initiator (B&prime;) and an aprotic polar solvent. The process for preparing a perfluoropolyether comprises polymerizing hexafluoropropylene oxide in the presence of the polymerization initiator-containing solution.

A fluoroelastomer comprising constituent units derived from vinylidene fluoride (a) and constituent units derived from perfluoro(methoxypropyl vinyl ether) (b), optionally together with constituent units derived from tetrafluoroethylene (c) and/or constituent units derived from a perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether (d), wherein the constituent units (a) are contained in an amount of 65 to 85 mol %, the constituent units (b) in an amount of 0.5 to 30 mol %, the constituent units (c) in an amount of 0 to 10 mol % and the constituent units (d) in an amount of 0 to 25 mol %. The fluoroelastomer can be produced by a process comprising copolymerizing vinylidene fluoride and perfluoro(methoxypropyl vinyl ether), optionally together with tetrafluoroethylene and/or a perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether, in the presence of an iodated brominated compound represented by the general formula RBr I &lsqb;I&rsqb;. Further, there is provided a crosslinkable composition comprising the above fluoroelastomer and a peroxide crosslinking agent. Still further, there is provided a curing product produced by curing the above crosslinkable composition, and having excellent resistances to heat, cold and solvents.

A carboxyl group-containing fluorine copolymer is produced safely at a low cost by treating a vinylidene fluoride copolymer with a base and a peroxide, preferably in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst such as a quaternary ammonium salt or a quaternary phosphonium salt.

A fluorinated oligomer having COOH groups at both end and a &rgr;,value of 1,000 to 10,000 is produced by swelling a fluorine rubber crosslinking product in an organic solvent, followed by decomposition in the presence of a base and a peroxide. Fluorine-containing elastomers produced through copolymerization reaction of vinylidene fluoride, tetrafluoroethylene, perfluoro(lower alkyl vinyl ether) and chlorotrifluoroethylene in the presence of a bromine-containing monomer compound and an iodine- and bromine-containing compound, where hexafluoropropene can be further copolymerized, have not only a distinguished resistance to amine-based additives and also distinguished low-temperature characteristic and engine oil resistance, and also a lower cost attained by reduced copolymer proportion of perfluoro(lower alkyl vinyl ether).

A bisphenol compound represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## where R is an alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an alkylidene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a perfluoroalkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a perfluoroalkylidene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a SO.sub.2 group or an O group; and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are the same or different alkyl groups, alkenyl groups, aryl groups, alkylaryl groups or aralkyl groups, each having 1 to 25 carbon atoms, can give vulcanization products having a good resistance to hot water, when used as a cross-linking agent for terpolymers of tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoro (alkyl vinyl ether)/ethylenically unsaturated cure site monomer.

2.2'-bis(3-mercaptophenyl)hexafluoropropane [bisthio-phenol AF] is obtained in good yield by chlorosulfonating 2.2'-bisphenylhexafluoropropane and reducing the thus quantitatively obtained 2,2'-bis(3-chlorosulfonylphenyl)-hexafluoropropane with zinc under acidic conditions and is effectively used as a cross-linking agent for a fluorine-containing elastomer having halogenophenyl groups as cross-linkable groups.

Process for producing bisthiophenolperfluoroalkylidene compound

A fluoroelastomer comprising 74 to 80% by mole of vinylidene fluoride, 4 to 12% by mole of tetrafluoroethylene, 14 to 18% by mole of hexafluoropropene and 0.3 to 1.3% by mole of perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether), the sum total being 100% by mole, gives vulcanization products having well balanced high levels of low-temperature characteristics and methanol resistance, and suppressed change in the hardness with time after the secondary vulcanization.
