The present invention is a substrate for a display, the substrate having a film B including a polysiloxane resin on at least one surface of a film A including a polyimide resin, wherein the film B contains inorganic oxide particles therein, and the present invention has an object to provide a substrate for a display: being able to be applied to a color filter, an organic EL element, or the like without the need to carry out any complex operations; allowing high-definition displays to be manufactured; and being provided with a low CTE, a low birefringence, and flexibility.

The present invention discloses a method for producing a laminated-resin black matrix that has a sufficient optical density and a low reflectance and that can be precisely processed, and a color filter substrate that includes a laminated-resin black matrix substrate produced by the method. The method for producing a laminated-resin black matrix substrate includes the step of exposing, in a single step, a laminate of a coating A of a non-photosensitive resin composition A that contains a light-shielding material and a coating B of a resin composition B that contains a light-shielding material, the laminate being on a substrate, and the step of developing the exposed laminate. The color filter substrate includes red, green, or blue pixels formed in apertures in a laminated-resin black matrix substrate produced by the method.

Method for manufacturing laminated resin black-matrix substrate

The present invention provides a color filter comprising a transmission area and reflection area in which at least one color pixel of red, green and blue pixels is formed of the same material, wherein a transparent area having no color layer is formed in a part of the reflection area, at least one sub-area is formed in the transparent area, and the size of the sub-area is 20 &#x3bc;m or more and 2,000 &#x3bc;m or less. The present invention also provides a liquid crystal display for both transmission display and reflection display with a cheap manufacturing cost, wherein the difference of chromaticity between the transmission display and reflection display is small, and the surface of the transmission area and reflection area have small step heights.

This invention provides a color filter which comprises, a transparent substrate, color layers of plural colors, a transparent electrode and a protrusion for controlling liquid crystal alignment laminated in this order, and also has plural fixed dot spacers. In a preferable embodiment of this invention, the black matrix is formed by partially overlapping the color layers and the topmost layer of the fixed dot spacers comprises portions of the layer which constitutes the protrusion for controlling liquid crystal alignment or it comprises separate dots of the same composition as that of the protrusion for controlling liquid crystal alignment. This invention can provide a liquid crystal display device that can achieve an excellent display quality and a wide viewing angle and is furthermore excellent in productivity.

Disclosed is a method for fabricating a color filter for a transflective liquid crystal display device inexpensively in which desired color purities, brightnesses, and color tones are obtained for reflective display and transmissive display. A color filter for a liquid crystal display device includes pixels of a plurality of colors, each pixel of at least one color including a transmissive area and a reflective area. The pixel of at least one color includes a plurality of laminated color layers. The uppermost color layer in the pixel including the plurality of laminated color layers is composed of a photosensitive color resist. In the reflective area of the pixel including the plurality of laminated color layers, a transparent resin layer is disposed between a substrate and the color layer portion.
