A conductor for use in a flat cable includes thereon a tin of tin alloy plating the thickness of which is substantially uniform over the whole periphery of a flat conductor, in order to provide a conductor for use in a flat cable which can minimize variations in the plating thickness thereof, provide a good contact reliability with respect to a connector when it is used in a flat cable, and causes no increase in the contact resistance thereof in a humidity withstand test after it is inserted into and removed from the connector.

A cable reel using a tape-shaped cable including a high-strength conductor having a tensile strength of 500 to 1500 N/mm.sup.2, an elongation percentage of 0.5 to 50% and a spring limitation value of 400 to 2000 N/mm.sup.2. Accordingly, in such a cable reel, weight as well as cost of the whole or parts in a cable reel can be reduced.

A laminated flat cable uses a flat conductor which is treated substantially uniformly with an anticorrosion plating having a given thickness over the whole periphery thereof to provide a laminated flat cable which can provide a stable contact reliability with respect to a connector and a stable voltage withstand between conductors in a long period of use in which the cable is repeatedly inserted into and removed from the connector.

Method for manufacturing a conductor for a flat cable

A molded circuit component for connecting to lead wires includes body and a protective cover. The body includes a partition wall area having a plurality of housing grooves, partition walls, body notches, positioning projections and fastening pin reception apertures. The protective cover includes a plurality of cover notches, recesses and fastening pins to correspond respectively with the body notches, positioning projections and fastening pin reception apertures. Metal lines having connection terminals on their ends are embedded in the housing grooves. Lead wires are positioned in the grooves so that the conductors of the lead wires are placed on, and attached to, the connection terminals. The protective cover is then attached to the body.

Molded circuit component unit for connecting lead wires

A molded electrical connector for connecting electrical conductors comprises a molding section in which a plurality of metallic circuits are arranged in parallel with one another at predetermined intervals and are fixedly molded with resin such that first end portions of the metallic circiuts are exposed as connecting terminals. The molded electrical connector further comprises a connecting section which comprises the connecting terminals. The connecting section is molded with resin simultaneously when the molding section is formed. Electrical conductors are placed on the connecting terminals of the metallic circuits and welded together.

Moulded electrical connector and method for manufacturing same

A shielded flat transmission cable for use in wiring electronic appliances having consistent low resistance and a high shielding effect. The cable comprises a plurality of insulated parallel conductors including a grounding conductor and signal transmitting conductors. The conductors and insulating layer are surrounded by a thin metal shielding material. An insulating film surrounds the outer surface of the shielding material. The shielding material is directly and metallically connected to the grounding conductor providing a good electrical contact between the shielding material and the grounding conductor. The connecting means employed can be a spot weld or any other equivalent means directly connecting said grounding conductor and said shielding material. In a first embodiment of the invention the insulation layer, shielding material, and insulating film are formed through lamination. In a second embodiment of the invention they are formed through winding.

Shielded flat cable

The present invention provides a method of manufacturing an optical fiber of high heat-resisting and light-receiving properties as well as greater flexibility. The optical fiber of the present invention comprises a core made of a setting type transparent silicone rubber, and an outer portion made of a high molecular weight transparent substance whose refractive index is at least 0.02 less than that of the core. Silicon rubber is injected into the cylindrical outer portion and set, and the silicone rubber and the outer portion are thereafter subjected to heat treatment at a temperature of 120.degree. C. or more for at least 1 hour.

Manufacturing method for plastic optical fiber

An apparatus for joining a plurality of lead wires with a corresponding plurality of flat type electric wires. The apparatus comprises a plurality of connector terminals, each having a first caulking portion for securing the round wire to a first end of the connector terminal, and a clasping portion for securing the flat wire to a second end of the connector terminal, the clasping portion comprising a first and second spring portion, a projecting portion projecting from the clasping portion toward the flat wire, and second caulking portion for compressing the flat electric wire between the first and second spring portion by securing the first spring portion to the second spring portion. The projecting portion may receive solder so that the flat type electric wire can be spot welded to the connector terminal. To prevent short circuits between the connector terminals, a comb-like spacer may separate the connector terminals, or the exterior of each connector terminal may be insulated. The connector terminals may be encased in resin or the like to provide further protection from exposure. The resulting connection is extremely compact, reliable, and provides a stable electrical connection over time.

Apparatus for connecting sets of electric wires to lead wires

A connector terminal for joining a round type electric wire with a flat type electric wire. The connector terminal comprises a first crimpable portion for securing the round wire to a first end of the connector terminal, and a clasping portion for securing the flat wire to a second end of the connector terminal, the clasping portion comprising a first and second spring portion, a projecting portion projecting from the clasping portion toward the flat wire, and second crimpable portion for compressing the flat electric wire between the first and second spring portion by securing the first spring portion to the second spring portion. The projecting portion may receive solder so that the first type electric wire can be spot welded to the connector terminal. The resulting connection is extremely compact, reliable, and provides a stable electrical connection over time.

Connector terminal

In a method of spot-welding flat-type electrical conductors, sandwiched between insulators, to metal terminals, a portion of one insulator layer is removed from an end portion of a flat-type electrical conductor to expose the electrical conductors on one side. The end portion of the electrical conductors is put between two metal plates which is connected to form a metal terminal. A projection is formed on the metal plate which is disposed on the exposed conductor side such that it is in contact with the conductor before the conductor is spot-welded to the metal plates.

Method of spot-welding flat-type electrical wires to metal terminals

A nickel-plated metal terminal to be spot welded has a contact part plated with nickel and a spot welding part to be spot welded to a metal part not plated with nickel thereby improving the weld characteristic of the spot welded terminal.
