A pressure sensitive recording material utilizing a color forming reaction between a colorless or light-colored basic dye and a color acceptor, and in which (1) a basic dye-containing layer and color acceptor-containing layer are formed on one surface of different substrates respectively, (2) a basic dye-containing layer and color acceptor-containing layer are formed on one surface and the other surface of a same substrate respectively, (3) a basic dye-containing layer and color acceptor-containing layer are superposed on one surface of a substrate or (4) a layer containing both basic dye and color acceptor is formed on one surface of a substrate, the pressure sensitive recording material being characterized in that the basic dye is at least one diarylmethane compound represented by the formula (1) given below, the basic dye being enclosed in synthetic high polymer microcapsules having a mean particle size of 3 to 15 .mu.m and an average film thickness of 0.1 to 0.7 .mu.m, the color acceptor being an activated clay mineral containing 65 to 80 wt. % of silicon oxide (SiO.sub.2) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.6 and A are as defined in the specification.

Pressure sensitive recording materials

The present invention provides a recording material utilizing a reaction between a colorless or light-colored dye precursor and a color developer capable of forming a color upon coming into contact with the dye precursor, the recording material being characterized in that the material comprises at least one compound serving as the dye precursor and represented by the formula (1), and an acidic substance serving as the color developer ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.6, p and q are defined in the specification. At least one selected from the group consisting of phenolic compounds of the formulae (10), (11) and (12) and phenolic resin having a partial structure of the formula (13) can be used, as required, to further improve the color forming properties and change the color of recorded images from reddish purple or purple to blue or dark blue.

Recording material

A heat sensitive recording material having a recording layer formed on a substrate and containing a colorless or light-colored basic dye and a color acceptor, the heat sensitive recording material being characterized in that at least one ethyleneimine derivative of the following formula (1) is contained in the recording layer as a preservability improving agent for record images ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is direct bond, --O--, --S--, --SO.sub.2 -- or C.sub.1 .about.C.sub.6 alkylene, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each C.sub.1 .about.C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 .about.C.sub.4 alkoxyl or halogen atom, m and n are each zero or an integer of 1 to 4.
