[Object] To obtain an anti-integrin &#x3b1;8&#x3b2;1 antibody which binds to integrin &#x3b1;8&#x3b2;1 derived from mammals of different species. Also, to obtain an anti-integrin &#x3b1;8&#x3b2;1 antibody which inhibits binding between integrin &#x3b1;8&#x3b2;1 and its ligand. [Solution] Anti-integrin &#x3b1;8&#x3b2;1 antibodies which bind to integrin &#x3b1;8&#x3b2;1 derived from mammals of different species have been obtained. In addition, inhibitors, which contain an anti-integrin &#x3b1;8&#x3b2;1 antibody, of binding between integrin &#x3b1;8&#x3b2;1 and its ligand have been obtained.

A chicken embryonic stem cell is established, which stably has pluripotency and an ability of being differentiated into a germ cell. For evaluating on whether or not the chicken embryonic stem cell can be applied to genetic modification technique, detection is made on a protein which serves as an indicator of the ability of being differentiated into a germ cell. This provides (i) a chicken embryonic stem cell applicable to genetic modification technique and (ii) a method for evaluation of the chicken embryonic stem cell.

Method of determining chicken embryonic stem cells

In one embodiment of the present application, a polypeptide capable of binding to a sugar chain is disclosed, particularly a high-mannose-type sugar chain bound to an antibody, more preferably a sugar chain bound to a chicken antibody. Also disclosed is a method for the purification of an antibody (specifically a chicken antibody) as a representative application of the polypeptide. Further disclosed is means for the purification. The polypeptide, BML-17, is a novel lectin made of 168 amino acid residues isolated from. By using BML-17, it becomes possible to purify an antibody (e.g., a chicken antibody) readily and with high efficiency.

The present invention is to provide a chicken LIF gene. Based on this genetic information, LIF protein derived from the chicken can be stably supplied and it solves the problems of the creation of transgenic chickens in the past. In addition, the present invention provides not only transgenic chickens for testing purposes but also supplies the first practical transgenic stock animals.
